Fine by me!

Curse you for confusing me!

Ah, I thought you said I was the one thwarted.

Nono, I'm the thwarted one.

I always assumed Magic helped with damage from a magical source, not just of magical type, and Resilience worked the same for physical.
So does Resilience lower damage from my cudgel, since it's cutting damage, or does Magic, since it's magical cutting damage?

This is rumored to be why no one complains about geomancer or hartstone staff. Physical damage from a magical source weakened by both skills and armor and all damage reducing defs?
Unknown2005-03-26 00:49:28
Whatever it says in the AB file of a skill as the damage type, that is the resistance that protects against it. So as for a Hartstone cudgel being cutting, that means armor and resilience protect against it.
Sylphas2005-03-26 00:50:26
Then what does the source affect?
Unknown2005-03-26 00:51:07
What increases the damage. So if the source is Magical, that means intelligence ups the damage. Or if the source is increased by the sceptre artifacts.

Knights have a whole skillset dedicated to stopping them (and don't forget rebounding). Combat, when used properly, renders knights useless in 1v1. I'd be more concerned about the unblockable damage of, say, Mages. When shielding isn't an option due to overpowered demesnes which control your entire fight, and don't forget blackout, phantom damage, etc so you can't even keep track of your own health... I'd say that's far more overpowered than any Knights with lightning runes.
Asarnil2005-03-26 17:13:58
*sob* its so beautiful. A non-knight who understands that just because we can do massive damage sometimes, we aren't overpowered to the point of oblivion.

Sorry, Amaru
He was using his bashing macro. Swing/swing. Swing, as you may or may not know, targets a random bodypart.
How could I have used combat to circumvent the above, pray tell?
Silvanus2005-03-26 18:28:13
Plus, not all of us have the credits to invest into combat. We have to get our 3 guildskills, plus 1 more skill to defend against their 3 skills, and even resilience. No, thats not right.
Ceres2005-03-26 18:36:34
Makes little difference. With trans combat and resilience, I take over twice as much damage as you do.

Eesh, I keep agreeing with Amaru lately. The above is absolutely accurate.
Murphy2005-03-27 17:00:26
Yeah highfive and props to Amaru for his first good intelligent and well thought out post -applause-
Actually he's been hitting out with good ones lately, way to be objective!

That's Lusternia, I guess.

Stance vitals, parry arms. Defensive style. Use REBOUNDING, dummeh!! But most of all, dont even think you can inquisition me without hitting me at all- that's just silly.

Tuek, the "damage" indicator doesn't indicate the difference in damage per swing. Mere scratch versus say scalping you tells the wound damage affliction. At 0 wounds or at 100 wounds we do the same damage, plus a small difference for affliction hits.
