Aliases or Macros?

Making this so we can stop hijacking the dreamweaving log, and because it's interesting to find out how people fight.

When I had hexes, all mine were three letter alias. D* for drawing, H* for hexing. SL (sleep), AM (amnesia), AN (anorexia), ST (stupidity), PS (paralyse), etc.

All my demesne effects are the first three letters of the effect for just the room, and those three plus d for demense wide. SLMD (sleepmist demesne), SQUD (squirrels demesne), etc.

I was thinking of macroing point cudgel, but I'm just going to throw in some gags and have it try the room and all directions, so I don't have to blow 10 keys on one attack.

Tuek, how do you set up your hexes with the function keys? Any sort of order to it?
Shiri2005-03-26 00:29:50
Aliases.
B - Moonburst &t
WAN - Moondance waning &t
EN - Order entourage attack &t
EP - Order pigwidgeon follow &t
FC - Faecall

and for healing

BRE - Cure me breaks
REI - outr reishi, eat reishi

etc. happy.gif

Well.. there is honestly no order, I tried to make it ordered, but it's pretty random.

Well, it goes like this..

F1- Anorexia
2- Asthma
3- Impatience
4- Paralysis

5- Stupidity
6- Epilepsy
7- Vapors
8- Dementia

9- Masochism
10- Healthleech
11- Pox
12- Sensitivity

See? You can see some sort of grouping going on there, notably all the damage related ones in the last group.

Shift F1- Amnesia
2- Sleep
3- Paranoia
4- Dizzy

5- Addiction
6- Peace
7- Reckless
8- Clumsy

9- Scabies
10- Vomiting

And that covers the shift f-keys.

So basically I draw out whatever grouping I like by mashing the right f-keys, and then just a single key (insert) will toss them all in the order I drew them (by checking the HEXES list to see what is drawn in the room and storing that to a list).

dco - omen
Sti- sting
dl - leech
dcc - contagion
de - ectoplasm
ac - cosmicfire
dw - wrack
dt - torture
fh - hangedman
ta - orders my demon to attack

mag -- fling magician (good for stopping wracks and absolves or whatever they are called
lover -- lovercard
empr -empresses
dsl - shrivel legs
dsa shrivel arms
ca - ammisio
cca - carcer
ctr - trista(sp!?)
cc - conjunctio
tp - passive demon

I won't list all my curing ones, I also have more pvp ones and deffing ones. I have 4 macros for different demon invests and 2 for pause/unpause of system.
Shiri2005-03-26 02:06:29
Tristitia, isn't it? tongue.gif
Genos2005-03-26 05:11:51
I mainly have Macros for fighting and aliases for deffing at the beginning. I would have Macros for deffing but for some reason when I do Alt and a number my computer tries to do something and it lags really bad for a bit.

I use control for almost everything.
0-8 is for setting up my Demesne.
Insert, Home, Delete, and End are for twirling my staff too break limbs (Which I never use because it's useless)
Control + Numberpad keys are directional aliases for my staff so when I'm trying to find someone or they leave the room I just kinda smash that part of the keyboard. tongue.gif
Then I use Alt and the Numberpad for Boulderblasting.
S for Staff
C for clot
W for writhe
A for ordering my wyrm to attack
F for my wyrm to follow
P for me to order my wyrm passive
B for blast
And then I have some random aliases for setting up a room to fight, such as freezing the ground and stuff. I don't like using aliases because I don't like the keyboard I use and I always make typos so they screw up.
Sylphas2005-03-26 05:22:52
Yeah, aliases have a ton of problems when you're not used to the layout. Trying to fight on a split keyboard was hell.

What I really like about my aliases, is that I can use options easily with them. So I can do "pc" to point cudgel at my target, or "pc target" to switch targets and then point cudgel at them. And I've coded an aiming option into all my aggressive aliases. Macros don't have that option.

I use macros and aliases...

F1: Point staff @tar
2- Point Staff @Tar @tardir
3- Aquacast Hailstorm
4- Weave Phantom @Tar

5-Point 78119 at @Tar (web)
7- Evoke Void @Tar

9- Cast Ignite @Tar
10- Cast Freeze @Tar

KEY1 - Weave Wounds @Tar
7- Weave Reflection at me

---
ref - Weave Reflection at %1
demset - Demesne setup
fm - Dreamcast Memoryloss
fd- Dreamcast Daydreaming
fa- Dreamcast Amnesia
fe- Dreamcast Epilepsy
fp- Dreamcast Pacification
fn- Dreamcast Narcolepsy
pos- Dreamcast Possess @Tar
bur- Dreamweave Burst @Tar
see- Whirl Staff
...
Too many to list, actually. I've probably got a thousand more aliases I use all the time
Nayl2005-03-26 10:24:18
I use an alias for pretty much every command over 2 letters
my favourites but, are:
jesus : darkchant crucify @target (swaps if I put in a name after jesus)
and others that are incrediblyt cheesy
Daganev2005-03-26 10:46:06
I can't do macros because I switch computers so often, that some keyboards are harder to us macros on than others. especially laptops.
Thorgal2005-03-26 12:07:02
For actual combat, I only use the sixpack buttons (insert, home, pgup, delete, end, pgdn)... And alt-sixpack.

Yep, I use the six pack too! Except for delete, I lurves my delete key to much to cover it with a macro. Insert is my general one touch throw any hex available macro.
Asarnil2005-03-26 13:04:03
I use my INS/CTRL-INS for health/mana. It is the only one of those I don't use so much that covering them with a macro buggers me up more than it helps. Going along the F1-12 keys for combat attacks is more efficient for me as I can group the similar attacks in the groups of 4 keys (eg strike larm/ram/lleg/rleg is f5-f8}
Torak2005-03-26 15:20:01
I can't fight on a non-split keyboard, the others are too cluttered; Especially laptops.
Soll2005-03-26 15:32:42
When I was a knight I had the most awkward F1 ever. glare.gif

HOME: choose whether to attack with lh, rh, or both.
DIV: Target head
KEY8: target chest
KEY7 :target left arm
KEY9: target right arm
KEY5: target gut
KEY4: target left leg
KEY6: target right leg
*: target none. (bashing)

Then F1 would scroll through to see which hands I attack with, then where I'm targetting, and if I was targetting it with a certain slash type to get a desired effect, and then the status of the enemy shielding. (whether to raze/raze, or raze/jab, or just raze), and then... etc. All combined into F1, so I had the other functions for things like web, heretic/infidel/inquisition, Numen, etc. It worked surprisingly well.

You might want to work on the curing though, dying to crotamine without having any other afflictions isn't too impressive. ninja.gif

Hell, I was racing crotamine with damage while you stood idle by and staffpointed once every 20 seconds or so. But the crotamine won sad.gif.
Soll2005-03-27 18:58:50
When was that? :/
Soll2005-03-27 18:59:52
My curing's getting better though. Slowly. glare.gif Very slowly. I seriously don't remember you killing me with crotamine. huh.gif
