This time it was awesome, we had Magnagorans breaking a guys limbs over and over so I got to use Sacrifice to kill him - it didn't leave a body when he vitae'd though which sucks majorly.

Daganev and Cron both make very stong points.
Not quite as world shattering as Narsrim and Bricriu agreeing on something but alarming none the less.

I was pointing to the fact that someone was actually agreeing with either of us.

Oh, heh, right. Yeah, that doesn't happen often, true.

To me, the issue has nothing to do with how the game will actually develop, its the players who are trying to argue that somehow Gloriana will actually be a benefit to the game as a apposed to glomdoring.
If its going to be possible to pernamently cleanse a tainted room like that, it better be possible to pernamently Taint a clean room, and I'd expect Serenwilde to have a grove of Taint here or there.

Shiri2005-03-27 21:03:58
Which would be more equivalent to having a deTainted room in Magnagora, so it should be more like, erm, a Tainted room in the mountains or something, but yes, quite. Actually, though, I don't think Fain and Raezon are particularly interested in spreading the Taint as such - they're just interested in whatever power they can get from the Soulless, and so forth. Whereas Lisaera and apparently Viravain are actively against it.

I think this only shows that taint (untaint), is not a permanent situation. The more deeply enbedded type we see in Magnoragora would take a God with the right knowledge and the right ritual to get rid of it. The force taint mages do is just a mere cheap copy of that. Like when a Hartstone forested the Glomdoring. They weren't really cleansing it. Magnagora just needs to get some Gods to do some permanent tainting for them. Or perhaps some enormous expenditure of power. Say 200k per room with a lengthy ritual?
It would have been interesting if the war had left a bit of perma-taint in the Serenwilde. Otherwise there is no IC reason for it being there.
Silvanus2005-03-27 21:13:02
As far as I can tell, Viravain isn't against the Taint, she's against despair, and probably has been brainwashed by Lisaera that the Taint is spreading despair among Glomdoring.
Silvanus2005-03-27 21:13:44
Fain and Raezon can't taint that, because they are not of the 7th circle and are not a Creationist.

Find a way to break the Seals and find out.
Rashidat2005-03-27 21:20:00
Maybe when Murphy gets his full set of curses, the Magnagoran's can set up some sort of feedback at their nexus to blow out all seals.
Asarnil2005-03-27 21:23:39
You know, that is the most awesome idea I have heard all year.
Unknown2005-03-27 21:25:31
Heh. If that's your character's motivation, run with it as far as you can.
Erion2005-03-27 21:26:04
Ugh, Viravain's doing it out of some personal feelings for Raven. If you mention Crow or Raven around her, she gets crying and all upset. Ran out of Her own fulcrux on me. x.x
It just irks me that there seems to be the possibility of the Gloriana. And all of the mobs actually seem to want it. It makes it all the more a possibility.

QUOTE(Silvanus @ Mar 26 2005, 03:31 PM)
Viravain, the Lady of the Summer Song says, "So we shall begin.."
Kneeling down on the ground, Viravain places Her hands on the forest floor. She
bows Her head and begins to softly sing. The forest slowly falls silent, the
wind dies out and the leaves of the trees stop rustling, and even the insects
hush to listen to the voice of the Summer Song.
Viravain, the Lady of the Summer Song sings something unintelligible.
Even the stillness of the night stirs as memories of an ancient beauty flood
through air as the song envelops the life around it with a low strumming power.
Viravain, Lady of the Summer Song, brushes a hand against a tree, which
straightens at Her touch. The leaves become glossy and fuller, and a sweet wind
blows down from its branches.
Small insects and spiders scuttle in from the surrounding environs. Viravain
gently breathes a soft white mist that travels from Her lips in tiny tendrils,
wrapping around these small creatures. As the mist breaks apart, beetles
transform into ladybugs, spiders into crickets, wasps into bees.
Several small bats and crows fly in and perch on the nearby branches, watching
with bright red eyes. Viravain smiles timidly and floats up towards them,
gently picking each up a bat and cradling him in Her hands. She kisses it and
it transforms into a bluebird that flies in a circle overhead, singing merrily.
Then, she does the same to a small crow, and the red light dies from its eyes
and its feathers brighten, transforming into a lustrous raven that caws
brightly as she places it back onto a branch. And so it goes until all the
flying creatures are transformed.
With Her arms outstretched as if to embrace the world, Viravain spins around,
faster and faster until She becomes of blur of colour and light. Suddenly, she
stops and sways, yet the winds around Her continue to churn with an sparkling
green glow, transforming all it touches.
A sparkling emerald green glow flashes over the Glomdoring Forest.
Viravain, the Lady of the Summer Song says, "Receive this humble gift, Gloriana! A small remembrance of what you were. Let this little patch of your sweet ground be forever touched with the love and light and joy of the Summer Song!"
Viravain, the Lady of the Summer Song stumbles slightly, then sways in
exhaustion. Even so Her face is bright with happiness.

I protest! Animal abuse! Bats, beetles, spiders, crows, wasps are all valuable parts of the ecosystem! Viravain killed those animals! That is wrong! You could've nurtured them, hug them and kiss them so they feel all fuzzy inside... but replacing them is evil! Viravain is evil!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my views regarding the whole Glomglor forest!
Kethuru whispers into the ear of Viravain: "You are weak. You have always been weak. Your futile attempts to revert MY footing into the word will be FUTILE. Keep on, sing... sing with Your Eternal Life to try prevent the inevitable! You cowed away from me once, and you have not changed..."
"You are weak..."
Viravain shouts in to the voices in Her small head: "NOooOooOOOO! I won't let You return. I'll make Gloriana pure again, it won't serve Your evil purposes! AAAAHHH!! Hajamin, save Me!"
I believe that even if Gloriana returns, it doesn't mean they'd be anti-Taint. Heck, they had been leaving with the Taint for eons, Rowena is there... they can go like "YOU FORESTS ABANDONED US FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS! YOY LET US BE MUTILATED BY THE TAINT, AND OUR SPIRITS BE COMPLETELY VIOLATED! YOU HIDEOUS CELEST COSTED MY FORMER BEAUTY! TAINT I LIVED WITH YOU FOR MANY YEARS, SO I CHOOSE TO LOVE AND CHERISH YOUR MEMORY FOREVER! Henceforth Glomglor shall always remain and vows to hate everything for ever. Including you, Magnagora! Unless you become a forest, too!"
Sooo... Gloriana can be wicked and cruel without the Taint, they've got a history of being feral to back them up.
Regarding Viravain, yeah she could try to reform the Glomdoring, but She could fail and become eeeevil Glomdoring like. Resulting in: True Glomglor. A forest that tranforms with the seasons and between night and day. You have a completely differently looking forest during the daytime than during the nighttime. One moment serene, the other brutal. Spring time pure, Winter wicked and deadly! All hail Glomglor! A Viravain all sweet and innocent during spring-summer, and all wicked during fall-winter.
Edit: I want my two-faced and completely unstable divine, along with a realm that represents such divine entirely. All hail Janus extreme!
Edit:
Kethuru's voice whispers onto Viravain's head: "YOU ARE MINE! Dance My puppet, to a melody only I can enjoy! Dance to your own end! MUHAHAHA!"
Viravain shouts agonizingly: "NooOOOOoooOOOoOo! LEAVE ME ALONE! AAHhhh..." *collapses*

So long as the story leading to that makes some sense, and the resulting conflict is interesting but not overwhelming, sure. What I don't want to see is some same-but-bigger version of the already tedious demesne-wars.

I don't think Lisaera has had very much at all to do with it, actually. And I don't think Viravain is reliably anti-anything. That's just where She's been influenced to at the moment, but She's so timid and fragile, it can't last.
