Gloriana? WTFBBQ?

Back to Common Grounds.

They really can't.  They'd have to kill all of the undead, and then influence the orcs.  Which are few and far between.

In the meantime, Glom/Mag comes in and crushes them like no tommorrow.

Well, that too.
Rashidat2005-03-28 22:39:59
Exactly. Magnagora only has to has worry about Glomdoring trying to take Angkrag. As I put all those questions after Serewilde and Celest for a reason. It's highly doubtful either would try to take the village. As such Magnagora would splendidly served to have Glomdoring take Southgard. Weaken Celest and protect Angkrag at the same time. What could stop that from happening is Serenwilde helping Celest.

I was trying to show that Serenwilde wouldn't want to be served by getting involved. Thus, you would be left with Celest and Serenwilde fighting over Rockholm. This would create the Seren/Celest conflict some have been looking for.

QUOTE(Elryn @ Mar 28 2005, 09:58 PM)
I'd like to see an evil Gloriana that is accepting of the Taint, but isn't actually tainted.  The difference may appear superficial, but I believe essential.

Glomdoring tainted is actually a problem, if it's the same Taint that in Magnagora!
I just thought about it - Type of terrain is a reflection of views and terrain domination. Celest has water, Serenwilde has forests, Magnagora has Taint. Gaudiguch will have volcanic environment, Hallifax probably some air or something.
If Glomdoring also has taint, it's just wrong.
Conclusion: Glomdoring must have it's own type of terrain (Tainted Forest).

EDIT: It solves problem of hardcoded alliance.
Rashidat2005-03-28 22:44:46
That is an interesting point Kashim. It would hard code in the struggle for control of the taint.
Unknown2005-03-28 22:54:35
Yeah, maybe it would lean Glomdoring towards Magnagora in times of trouble, assault against everything tainted (just like it could be with Celest and Serenwilde, I'm not mentioning actual situation wink.gif ), but it wouldn't give basis for any sort of permanent coalition.

The same thing happened with Serenwilde/Celest. Originally the coalition was for mutual survival, but now it's simply remained.

Yes.
But there's no hardcoded basis for that, it's people's fault (well, some may not see it as fault). It can be changed, actually it's not the way it was supposed to be (permanent alliance), but if players chose to... *shrug.
Shiri2005-03-28 23:06:04
Well, yeah. Maybe I just misread something said earlier, but I'm thinking more about what's actually going to happen because of the players, y'know? Rather than "in theory." Much as I'd like to do the latter and have it come true. 'cause then it'd be Gloriana.
Thorgal2005-03-28 23:18:56
IF Gloriana would return, the Serenwilders that hate or dislike their own commune, despite having created it to what it is themself, will join Gloriana...and make the exact same mistakes again.

With as result...two identical organizations.

Shiri is right, not history, theory or roleplay will determine how the commune will turn out, only the players will affect it.

And players generally aren't intelligent enough to build up a historical roleplay without hardcoded guidelines. I wouldn't be able to either: just like almost everyone else, I'm not an awesome roleplayer.
Elryn2005-03-28 23:24:09
I don't like the road Serenwilde appears to be taking, Thorgal, but I wouldn't join Glomdoring OR Gloriana. I have too much hope for what Serenwilde could be.

I don't think everyone in Serenwilde will jump over to Gloriana, and in fact, I would bet Glomdoring would get just as many snugglers.

If I wouldn't have known you a little by now, I would actually be surprised by that statement.

Glomdoring will get as many snugglers as Magnagora, Mhaldor, or any other IRE organization which' surface radiates evil.
Shiri2005-03-28 23:31:51
I have to admit, Elryn, saying Glomdoring will get snugglers is pushing it a bit. huh.gif

Correct.. Which means there'll be a few that are stupid enough to try it at the outset, they'll get booted, and that will be that.
Richter2005-03-28 23:35:48
Not if I can help it! *snicker*
Elryn2005-03-28 23:36:30
Meh, you'd be surprised at the power of curiousity and newness. I'd have thought few warriors would have taken dreamweaving over runes, but look at the proportions. Also, snuggling isn't just about being overly nice and joyful, I include those who want inertia and an easy ride regardless of role.

Maybe you're right in that Glomdoring would attract fewer obvious ones, but I still think you'd be surprised.

Hmm.
I might be missing something here now, but that's the reason some things must be hardcoded. That's why glomdoring needs to be some other form of taint (tainted forest), so it at least doesn't give any base for permament alliance with Magnagora, just more reasons for competition and struggle. That's probably the most that can be done, players can twist nearly everything though.
Xenthos2005-03-28 23:48:10
Is Ackleberry going to be "purified forest" or something, then?
Shiri2005-03-28 23:49:30
I don't think Ackleberry's going to come at all, to be honest.

Achaea, even with its playerbase, only has room for 6 thingies. I dunno.
Unknown2005-03-28 23:52:03
I really doubt there will be Ackleberry too.
Unknown2005-03-28 23:53:29
I get the impression that Ackleberry is more likely then Gaudiguch or Hallifax.
