Well, I only know about it because I looked it up after coming across it somewhere in D&D (darn, there I go crushing Gwylifar's hopes I might know something remotely important/usable again), so don't feel too bad. halo.gif

Sorry, Seelie and Unseelie have no relation to Lusternia. OOC ideas, and other pieces of literature don't have bearing on Lusternia, and I believe Estarra already commented on the Seelie/Unseelie.
Erion2005-04-01 15:08:14
A lot about the Glomdoring and Serenwilde especially does have a lot of basis on Celtic myth and lore, at least from what I've been reading.
Shiri2005-04-01 15:10:58
But look, even geographically there's no room for an Unseelie Court in Faethorn. It'd just be totally random.
Erion2005-04-01 15:12:43
Unseelie Court could be based entirely in the Glomdoring.
Unknown2005-04-01 15:57:24
It is based off Celtic lore, but it is NOT Celtic lore. Unseelie and Seelie have no place in Lusternia.

Especially, considering, you know, Kelpies are supposed to be evil, and fall under the Unseelie court. doh.gif
Gwylifar2005-04-01 16:05:25
Estarra specifically said a lot of Serenwilde is based on Celtic lore. Obviously it's not going to be the seelie and unseelie, just like Hartstone didn't end up exactly Celtic druids, runelore isn't exactly Nordic runes, purgatives aren't exactly Galen's theory of medicine, lowmagic isn't exactly Tantric yoga, highmagic isn't exactly qaballa, etc.

But the fae we already have are clearly inspired by some of the Celtic fae (from both seelie and unseelie), and I can't see any reason that some kind of other-fae wouldn't arise from Glomdoring and the ethereal Glomdoring, echoing the relationship the Moondancers have with the fae they work with, and also in some way possibly echoing the relationship between the courts.

The point is, that's at least as possible as the other things being discussed (like enslaved fae) as a direction the Glomdoring guardian class will end up going. Probably more likely. Though they do love figuring out what seems most likely and zinging us, don't they?
Erion2005-04-01 17:30:26
Yes, they do. tongue.gif Like making Brennan and the Council Gloriana loyal.

Hm, we already had a first coming of Tainted Faes, no? Maybe in the near future Glomdoring may discover a new way to Taint faes using the power of Mother Night and from that point give way to the Tainted Faes (Gwylifar's Unseelie) Wiccans would use. Shiri's skill idea about the unseelie seems alright for the Night Coven, imo.

So we could have something like: enslave Fae, Night ritual, corrupt fae with taint= Mutated Tainted fae, new fae proper to follow the Night Coven.

I was very inactive during the time of the Tainted Fae, how were they? Were they like the tainted fae girl merely growing horns and wings or were they completely changed into other things?

Unknown2005-04-01 18:02:52
I didn't care to look at the descriptions (Because they wouldn't stop hitting me!), but they were just tainted versions of the normal fae.

I'd still prefer more of an assassin-like quality to the new guardians, but either way it'll be new and cool.
Erion2005-04-01 18:08:32
It was essentially just tainted pooka and tainted nymphs running around. I believe the descriptions were essentially the same, maybe just short things that said "this is a tainted pooka". Or they were the same, except tainted was added in a few spots.
Shiri2005-04-01 18:21:58
Exactly. That's what I really hope is not going to stick. It was just so lame. While we're at it, in addition to the Tainted brownies that tickle people with their knife-like fingers, and Tainted sprites that heal SLIGHTLY LESS mana because of their sadistic natures, why not have some of those Tainted bunnyrabbits with marginally longer front teeth, and Tainted squirrels with grey pelts!

EDIT: Actually, Tainted bunny rabbits wouldn't be so bad. Having watched Vampire Princess Miyu. Damn was that thing weird.
Gwylifar2005-04-01 18:23:03
That could turn out to be amusing foreshadowing. Or just a badly done experiment.
Sylphas2005-04-01 18:28:15
Achaea had undead rabbits for a while that really kicked your ass. Those were fun.
Erion2005-04-01 18:30:53
Fun or sad and pathetic?
Daganev2005-04-01 18:41:52
Actually, the tainted fae all had unique descriptions with Silvery Green glow around them.

I was trying to figure out the whole silver-green thing....

Fun, since I never actually got eaten by them. Watching others die in a horrendous manner on deathsight is fun.

Another way the Night Coven faelings can come to be is through the doings of Crow. On an eerie evening, an omen is fulfilled, at night time with a plumage just as dark as the night Crow visits Queen Maeve in Faethorn Court. Enpowered by the rituals and dances of the Night Coven, Queen Maeve is rendered dazed. There and then, Crow possess Queen Maeve and makes her his for his Ethereal Evening. Thusly through the rape of Crow, Queen Maeve is momentarilly possessed by Mother Night, in the end resulting in the spawning of the ill love children: the Nocturn Fae And this is how Ethereal Glomglor was reinhabited, with beings just as benign as it's environment.
Elryn2005-04-02 01:28:25
Any new set of fae based off the Unseelie court, while fun, would not be appropriate. The fae we already have aren't good or bad. We don't have the Seelie court version. They would do just as well for an evil sadistic commune as a mystical, withdrawn commune, as a happy-go-lucky commune.

Give three or four darker fae for Gloriana to fill in for mother/crone/maiden, sure, but a whole alternate set would just be ridiculous.

Incidentally, all the tainted fae were loyal to Nil.
Erion2005-04-02 01:52:07
From what I've read, Fae such as banshee were loyal to Morrigan (Night, basically). They were Tuatha De Danann.
