C'mon, tainted Furrikin!
Singollo2005-04-06 02:33:46
Gloriana or Glomdoring, isn't it going to end up a forest commune?
Though I'd have to laugh if it turned out otherwise, since that would immediately screw Mags over alchemy wise.

Ok, Faelings would be as appropriate for Glomdoring as they are for Magnagora.
As for Elfen...
Note the elfen are in tune with the forests. This paragraph also illustrates how they felt about the poisoning of the spirits of nature by the soulless gods (ie, an earlier version of the taint?). It doesn't say Serenwilde was a bit miffed that nature was outgrowing them. It says NATURE WAS DYING.
Even if you don't accept the poisoning mentioned here as equivalent to the taint, you have to accept that spirits of nature getting sick = nature dying. What hurts the fae? TAINT!!!
As for Elfen...
QUOTE(The Aftermath of the Divine Wars)
Nature held its own fragile consciousness, but it was fragmented and dying, having been devastated by the divine wars. Further, those Soulless Gods who were trapped within the earth itself were poisoning these spirits of nature. The elfen, closest to the forests, first noticed this cruel fate.

Touche Elryn, touche ( don't -do- the funny e).

I vote for centaurs.

Thing is, Brennan and Rowena and stuff are Elfen, aren't they? I do hope it's not Elfen, there's too many of them already, something different should be in evidence, but I have a suspicion it's not going to turn out like that.
Elryn2005-04-06 11:42:04
Meh, they were tainted elfen... so I'd call them first generation viscanti.
Shiri2005-04-06 12:01:59
They don't look it though.
It should be centaurs, but they're no player race, and I'm not sure if they'll introduce a new race or anything.

Elryn2005-04-06 12:22:57
But didn't the centaurs leave Gloriana because they foresaw the taint coming?
Why would they go back unless it was untainted?
Edit: Although, being a mountable race would be kind of funky.

Elfen then.
Erion2005-04-06 14:00:53
It's so going to be elfen. I can't see anything else.
It just makes sense. The Gloriana was an elfen commune, as was/is the Serenwilde. The Glomdoring noteables are all elfen, minus Gibbers, who came from the Ackleberry. Rowena, Brennan, and the four council members.
And Rowena is less Viscanti and more just undead. But that's my opinion. Same with Brennan, although Brennan shows a few possible changes via taint (More bird-like features, psychotic).
Anyway. It could be Viscanti, as Viscanti means either pureblood (IE Rowena/Brennan/Ladantine) or mixed (part trill/elfen/merian/human and a lil furrikin in 'em). But I really believe it'll be just elfen. As it's the only one to make IC sense. Unless they come out with an elfen tainted race.
Igasho, Aslaran, Faeling, Orchlach, Krokani. Is there any real IC reasoning? "Hey, all us Aslarans/Krokani are going to inhabit the Glomdoring, you know. That elfen commune." ....No. It's elfen. Only logical choice, given our current races.

I hope they make a new race then. Like, randomly. Or something.
...it could happen.
...okay maybe not. But Elfen will be meh.

Nope, the taint didn't do any of that, Kethuru did. Take some history lessons from your own divine about the difference between the current taint and Kethuru.

Like it screwed up Celest alchemy wise? (/sarcasm)
I don't get why this is so hard to understand, for effects on nature, there is no difference between Celest or Magnagora...Magnagora's taint has the exact same effects as Celest's flooding.
Taint does not harm nature more than water, both of them suffocate parts of nature...
Taint = Water = Forest.
Kethuru != our taint.

And back to topic, only Elfen would make sense really, but of course they'd change into entirely difference elfen species than Serenwilde's once they specialize. If elfen make sense, dark-elfen or drow work as well.

I assume you refer to my last sentence. It wasn't Kethuru who caused the little fae girl to sprout horns and scream in pain.

Yeah, but...from a mechanics standpoint it should really be something else specialising. Of course it'd be Night Elfen or something as opposed to High Elfen, but meh. I just don't like the idea. It'd be like having another city of Merian deep under the Sea of Despair or something. Yeah, it would make sense, but it just wouldn't be right somehow.
