QUOTE(Elryn @ Apr 5 2005, 06:51 PM)
Of course, but when Magnagora became tainted, it didn't continue to follow the light.

When Nil became tainted, it didn't continue to follow the (variant of) the Light.

When rituals become tainted, they don't continue to draw on celestial powers.

When normal races become tainted, they don't continue to identify with their original race, they become something new, Viscanti.

When Glomdoring becomes tainted, why the hell should it continue to follow nature?

I quite like this statement. It makes complete sense and for that I think each commune should have its own ethereal plane. One demonic and one not. Simply play it as a parallel plane.

Nature is not nice, nor is it always clean and pure.

Very true.

Nothing to do with what was quoted though. tongue.gif

Edit: Of course, since then, I've basically agreed to look on it as Estarra suggested. Even though Glomdoring doesn't follow what we would consider nature, it could be thought of as a foreign, cancerous 'nature' competing with the prior one in the Basin of Life. So no arguments. happy.gif

What you were saying, though, is that just because a forest is not pure and lovely, it can't follow nature.

It can. Nature itself has more twists and turns and unexpected things than you could imagine.

Are you talking about me? I don't care if a forest is not pure and lovely... I wanted dark and crazy Gloriana, remember?

It's only the taint that makes it distinct.

PLEASE DO NOT RESSURECT THIS DEBATE. IT INSTILLED LARGE QUANTITIES OF DISTASTE FOR A PARTICULAR SERENWILDER.

It took many months for that irritation to fade. Don't bring it back.

Glomdoring is Tainted Nature - Nature, yes. As much as a Lich is life. That's how Kalodan looks at it, anyway.

Define pure in relation to nature?
Suhnaye2005-09-25 14:23:06
I chose Gloriana IC and OOC, but...

I love the concept of Glomdoring... It has a ton of potential for characters, but the way its been set up, and the way its being led, to the point that half the Commune is running for cover... It just doesn't work. What I'd prefer is for Night and Crow to be fully healed of the taint and wash the taint from Glomdoring, leaving is the exact same looking forest, but with fully sane and with a philosophy that makes sense... I don't like the idea of a Magnagoran Commune all that much, and the philosophical setup of Glomdoring along with the philosophical setup of Serenwilde kind of forces them both to side completely with their tainted/non-tainted counterparts... I don't like that in the least... I'd utterly hate it if Glomdoring became a complete ally to Serenwilde, and would prefer it stayed a dark, forboding, starving, and extremely harsh forest, full of dangers and strife of all forms, just like a lot of nature really is, Suhnaye would acctually be able to join it if the Spirits were sane and not tainted, Suhnaye wouldn't care in the least if the Forest was tainted, he'd just consider it an aesthetic problem to be slowly repaired, but he would not care about the physical aspects of the forest, so long as the philosophical aspects of the forest made sense.

Pure and tainted are matters of perception with regards to nature. smile.gif

Nature itself just is.

But let's not start an argument, please.
Unknown2005-09-26 00:00:42
I'm not starting an argument I'm interested in discussion. Saying the pure and tainted are matters of perception is a very general statement. As is saying nature just is. Nature is a dynamic and complicated system whether it be a plot device for a game or in reference to the RL ecosystem.
