As someone mentioned how Stag and Moon don't work very well with Serenguards compared to Sacraments or Necromancy for Paladins and Ur'guards and suggested we add a Wolf Totem specialization, I'll give a shot at it.

Wolf Bond
Syntax: WOLF BOND
Power: 3 (Moonhart Tree)

Through a greater spiritual link with the Wolf Totem, you are able to take upon the form of this great beast.

*Required to use any of the following abilities-

Blood Mark
Syntax: MARK

Marking a target with your blood will increases your chances of hitting him.

Yank
Syntax: YANK
Lashing out with your tail, you will attempt to bring someone in an adjacent room into yours.

Howl
Syntax: HOWL
Use your powerful howl to drain the mental reserves of an enemy.

*Stopped by deafness, but will take it down if it was on. Drains a base of 300 + 20% of maxmana.

Ambush
Syntax: AMBUSH
Using a combination of stealth and agility, you will be able to ambush your target from an adjacent room, under the ground, or from the trees.

*Does damage to target + knocking them onto the ground, taking away balance for small amount of time.

Shred
Syntax: SHRED
Use your powerful claws to tear up your enemies.

*Uses arm balance, cannot be wielding anything, does little damage but good bleeding.

Blood Clot
This passive ability will double the effectiveness of your clotting.

Bite
Syntax: BITE
Rips apart your enemies with your powerful fangs.

*Uses normal balance, can be used right before slashing, razing, or shredding.

Alertness
Syntax: ALERTNESS
Attune your keen sense of smell to detect anyone that enters any adjacent rooms at the cost of your mana.

Scent
Syntax: SCENT
Sniff out the location of someone.

Gaze
Syntax: GAZE
Staring into the eyes of the great wolf can induce madness.

*One mental affliction

Dark Gaze
Syntax: DARK GAZE
Induces fear so great into the heart of your enemies as to make them unable to at all.

*Paralyses the target

Hyper Regeneration
Syntax: HYPER REGENERATE
Power: 5 (Moonhart Mother Tree)
Power: 3 (Moonhart Mother Tree) in White Wolf Form
Tapping into your primal survival instinct, you will be able to regenerate health faster than any living beings.

*Uses a third of your mana to regenerate 75% of your health over the next 10 seconds.

*If in White Wolf form the regeneration changes to 75% of health over the next 7 seconds.

Frenzy
Syntax: FRENZY
Power: 8 (MoonHart Mother Tree)

Unleashes primal rage upon your foes. Though you nor your enemy will not be able to retreat, your attacks and speed will greatly be enhanced.

* Lasts for 20 seconds
*This ability will allow give the knight +1 balance to his speed and do an additional +10% to all damage but is only able to perform damaging skills.

Great Wolf
Syntax: WOLFFORM
Power: 10 (MoonHart Mother Tree)

By calling upon the powers of Brother Wolf you will receive increased health, some protections against fire, magic, electric, and cold, and possess the Great Wolf's White Fangs.

White Fangs
This passive ability will allow your fangs to penetrate through any physical defenses, increases the damage and bleeding done through your bites, in addition to transfer a poison currently in your bloodstream into your target.

*Any afflictions that can be given with poison can be transferred. You are still afflicted with the affliction though.

Reminds me or Metamorphosis, at least most of the lower abilities. Overall, sounds good, but Wolfform sounds a bit TOO good. More health, really useful protections, more damage, more bleeding, and the chance to transfer venoms?
Silvanus2005-03-28 01:44:52
The Wolfform should be limited, a lot. That sounds "OMFGWTFBBQ!" style.

Love how the wolf grows a giant huge tail, BTW. tongue.gif

The big problem here is that there's a whole mythology of Lusternia and Serenwilde and this just isn't part of it. I for one am not ready to give up on this wonderfully rich and developed and consistent mythology just to squeeze a few new powers in. Particularly since I'm 100% sure that Moon and Stag can be made to work with both us and the other guilds that use them, they just haven't yet. (Also, it'd take about 1/10th of the coding effort to just fix what's already there.)

Yeah, if they made Stag and Moon work for Serenguard, it'd be awesome. Until then, I could always hope. happy.gif
Shiri2005-03-28 01:53:27
Heck, they need to work for Moondancers and Hartstone, too. dry.gif
Daganev2005-03-28 01:55:35
I don't know about sacrements but there are 4 skills in Necromancy I find usefull
Carrion - food sucks
Ghost
Putrefaction
Lichdom

The rest are crappy compared to how a Nihilist can use the skills.
Silvanus2005-03-28 01:57:35
Contagion.

Giving Serenguard their own specialisation of totems would:

A - Rock
B - Be flavoursome and cool
C - Rock
D - Put them on a par with the other two knight guilds.

In short, happydance.gif
Gwylifar2005-03-28 13:37:31
I just don't see the advantage of separating the Serenguard from the other guilds in terms of the dynamics of how they interact, in terms of the mythology and backstory, or in terms of the flavor.

Serenguard are seriously broken, even more than knights in general are broken. And we've been wailing "fix it!" so long with so little hope, I can understand why people would start thinking, don't bother to fix it, just rewrite it.

But honestly, there's really a lot of untapped potential there. The underlying design is sound. It's just crippled by a handful of problems that can be addressed, they just have to do it. I think it'd be a shame to throw away all this great stuff we have but can't quite use, and replace it with something less flavorful that took more work to do, just because we felt stymied in fixing the few flaws that prevented unlocking the huge potential in what's already there. In terms of strategics, in terms of flavor, in terms of uniqueness, and in terms of appropriateness to the setting.

Nothing against your work, Terenas. It comes across as a little derivative of Achaea/Aetolia of course, probably intentionally, and there are a couple of things we're missing that it's still missing (a hindering ability and a passive attack, most notably), but it's a sound enough start for a skillset that'd work for Serenguard. I just think we should fix what we have before we strain too hard at making something entirely other, and I really, seriously think it's fixable.

There is no IC basis for a Wolf totem. The Wolf of not a Great Spirit.

Period.

Still waiting for crowform. *twiddle*
Desdemona2005-03-28 20:30:50
Wolf is one of the Totem creatures, thusly it is a Great Spirit... Just not one revered by the communes as their main guiding spirit. But all of this can change! evil.gif I think Brother Wolf is the Guiding Spirit of the Ackleberry druids, btw. whistling.gif

Regarding the skills... a tail? A wolf doesn't use it's tail like that glare.gif Are you sure you aren't coming up with a monkey-wolf hybrid?

No, that's Brother Bear.
Gwylifar2005-03-28 21:19:57
Yeah, I was really pushing for something wyrm-related (to explain why Gib turned into one), but it's been divinely confirmed it was Bear. Ah, well.

This reminds me, standard wolf totem should stop cosmic fear ninja.gif

I like it, though why they wouldn't be able to retreat when you do fury I don't understand.
