That sucks.
Aether had mentioned that he would be leaving at some point, but I didn't expect it to be this soon, and without warning. Still... the way Aether talked about his leaving, it's possible that this is it, rather than some scum h4X0ring his password and suiciding the character. On the other hand...

Well, usually the gods would just seconds -character-, but with no character... heh.
Likely in the logs somewhere, or... something.

If the character is deleted, are all records pertaining to him/her also deleted immediately? If they are, it would make sense for them to be kept around for a few days - perhaps the Admins could check the IP address of Aether's last login and compare it with a previous record, if such things are kept.
Jerah2005-03-29 02:01:23
I sincerely hope it was some kind of mistake or account hacking or something. Otherwise, I'm all manner of disappointed in Aether.
In role, I've always said the Paladins treat suicide as an affront to the Light and Lady Shakiniel in particular, and think that it is no better than desertion. I don't imagine many people remember that though. I went on earlier and said something to that effect and... was not met with kind words. It was rather fun to argue about, though.
Anyway, in conclusion, I think that holding a position should be like buying credits. While you hold it, you can't just suicide. If you want to, at least make the proper arrangements and get replaced first. It screws over a lot of people if you don't.
And Aether took the Paladin clan with him, so we're out 500k.

Ouch
The more I think about it, the more I figure that Aether wouldn't just up and do something like that without arranging someone to take over the leadership.

If it was a mistake, Aether is free to message support.
Since he hasn't, we can only assume it wasn't a mistake.

This looks like a job for Ceres.

I think I remember that, about the suicide. The first thing I heard from you personally IC was "the novice will be alright, no permanent harm done, right?" after Aether accidentally killed Maelon
It was traumatic IC, but hindsight and all that, you know.
I find it really hard to believe Aether would've suicided on purpose, with no warning. Especially now, if there could be a "better" time. My guess would be, as Estarra seems to have hinted, that the Divine can help Aether when he messages support about the peculiar "not existing" business.

Jerah should run for GM once again. Rafael would come back and it would be good times for Celest!
Shiri2005-03-29 15:06:32
I think Jerah's still more-or-less inactive, though. :/
EDIT: And I forgot why Rafael left, but it wasn't poor Paladin admin, I think.

He was just tired of dealing constantly with all the fighting, etc..regrettable but understandable.

It's ironic, when I was around I was almost never mentioned on the forums except by people saying that I was a terrible GM, but since I've been gone, I've heard nothing but good things and people wanting me to come back.
Also, one person told me they'd heard me called 'the Iron Blood'. That was pretty awesome.
In conclusion, I'm absolutely lacking in the required time to lead anything, but if anyone wants to make up more neat nicknames and tell me how great I am, I give you my blessing.

Rafael is gone here and on Achaea, he went off oversea or something.
Erion2005-03-29 22:02:50
I call you the "Iron Gladius". Why? Because it was bitten off by the last little altar boy you touched and you had an iron one made to about 5 inches long (About four and a half longer than the original), as a replacement. So that the other boys in the Paladin lockerroom wouldn't make fun of you.
Am I good at this or what?
