Although I no longer have any chars in celest it was my first home and one of my pet peeves was the fact that the comm shop in Celest has always been closed to its population. And I mean that literally..nobody in Celest has been able to purchase comms without Gov approval or some form or another of control in the past 10 game years.
The city gov has always tried to use the comm shop as a rape tool and Im happy to see a change has occured whereby it is open all the time. It only took 10 years and 5 months real time but....eh....celest has always hidden behind law and order but its just like any other gov....they get away with what the population allows.
Heres hoping a change is in the wind and the policies of Jem and all other control freaks are put to bed and merchants can freely trade without gov control.

Hey, I started it, not Jem.

Now if we could only do the same thing for power. With all the nexuses above 200k in power, I mean come on. Are power rations really necessary? Nope, not really. Maybe in a time of crisis where your city has no villages, but otherwise? Nope, not in the least.
Silvanus2005-03-31 05:31:11
Well... Celest is losing 2k power a month, according to Amaru.
Unknown2005-03-31 05:32:23
Amaru is full of it. When New Celest had 0 villages, they were still posting gains. And besides, you can always cut guards.
Unknown2005-03-31 05:51:58
hijack your own post......Comms....and celest.
Xavius2005-03-31 06:26:17
We're not losing 2k per month. We lost 2k in a month. Lots of linking then, not really a trend. Big difference.
Anyways, yeah, the comm shop is good. I still shop Serenwilde for food comms, but we have decent metals.

I was told that Celest was losing 2k per month. Well..at least the comm shop is open. Rockholm is useless to us now, in terms of productivity.

Wrong dwarf got crowned?
Malicia2005-03-31 09:25:14
Heh.
Ah well. Ironically, it works out nice for the Mags, who can now easily trample SG and steal miners, as they've started to do. Nice set up.

Celest has to many guards, that is why we lose 2K. I mean come on do they really need 20 guards everywhere. Magnagora still kills them all.
And comm shop open, must go compare prices

Life's a bitch, huh. Amaru wouldn't be a very consistent character if he put Serenwilde (ideal: plants) on the same level as Celest (ideal: Light). As much as I like Serenwilde, and didn't want to cause a rift or personally get enemied (I get all my flowers in Serenwilde, but I guess I won't need to buy flowers any more either), I helped my city.
Now in power terms, Serenwilde and Celest have equal income. Sorry if you all choose to take it as a personal vendetta or whatever, haven't I defended Seren villages enough times?

I didn't harm a single Serenwilder, dwarf, guard, anything whatsoever. I restored the dwarves, they're very grateful.
There is no IC justification for calling it a 'theft', since they left of their own free choice. The implication is that Serenwilde 'owned' the dwarves. So you were enslaving them?
In that case, I'm happy to have freed them.
Elgar2005-03-31 12:00:02
*stops Hijack*
So how does everyone feel with the commshop open, I feel it makes no difference because it is already out of steel. And I think whoever bought the last 5 steel should be enemied to Celest, it drives up prices

Not in city commshops, it doesn't. That's only village ones.
Elgar2005-03-31 12:03:29
Bah and they told me they kept the shop closed out of fear the prices would skyrocket since Magnagorians and Serenwilders would come clean it out.
I'm to believing in Celests goverment.
