Iridiel has the main point.....the comm shop is supposed to be a free market tool, not a control point used by a few to regulate trade to the many. As soon as it became that there was no point in being a merchant in Celest.
Having to ask to be let in to a comm shop to purchase necessary comms for production created a massive choke point that nobody wanted to deal with. The people with keys thought it was all working great because nobody was complaining but the fact was the merchants just gave up on the Celest comm market and found alternative comm sources which fundamentaly is a dis-service to the population as a whole.
The people with the keys didnt care since they had easy access anytime and could buy and sell anytime without any hassles so in the name of preserving the price structure they had cornered the comm market.
I always got a laugh out of people in Celest trying to get people to do the comm quests to boost city comm production when doing so helped the person doing the quest not one bit since the store was always closed and there was no way of seeing which comms needed to be boosted other than a real life weekly....if that...report...from some disinterested trade lackey on what people should be working on.
Hopfully thats in the past and the city can move on but since Im no longer involved in the city politic I couldnt care less other than to throw a jab at the foolishness that had prevaded thus far.
