Ahaha. Yesod was awesome back in the good ol' days.
And I never saw you around, Revan.Â

I saw him suggest downgrading Jellies, then left the Aquas for Geomancers right after.
Shiri2005-03-31 22:18:20
He was our Envoy at one point. And psh, I didn't have Yesod, I was using invisibility illusion.
EDIT: DOWNgrade jellies? That was totally useless back then, wasn't it? :/

Well, Valek helped me out with the Envoy report, and he basically said "If you're gonna ask for a crapload of upgrades, ask for a downgrade to balance it out."

Enough with the hijacking, back on topic!
I sip for 450-500 as a level 71 aslaran, I get like 250 from sparkleberry, and 100 regen, of course I get diluted nearly everytime I fight an aquamancer, so I'm sipping for 200...
Total healing is 200 + 250 + 100, so I heal for 550 every 6 seconds fighting an aquamancer, the aquamancer hits me for 2000 every 3.5 second from the staffpoint, and about 650 from the demesne every 9 seconds from jellies and choking, so that's approximately 4500 damage I'm taking for every round I can heal.
4500 damage a round, 550 health gain a round...even if the damage would only be half, it'd still be way over 2000 against 550 healing. Jelly stun slows down further that little healing.
I can't dodge, parry or rebound any of it and I can't learn any skills to resist the damage....
Any tips?

Reincarnate.
Ceres2005-04-01 14:13:10
Agreed.
Shamarah2005-04-01 14:13:31
Most Aquamancers don't do anywhere near my level of damage.
And anyway, I don't know of many that dilute regularly. I don't, and neither does Geb.
It is pretty hard to cope with, though, especially if you have few resistances to fire.

I get diluted by Vesar everytime I meet the guy.
Gwylifar2005-04-01 14:18:29
I've had to sacrifice way too much roleplay for strategics already. I'm not going to reincarnate too; if it really comes to that, I'll hang up my swords first. (Not that they do much.)
Speaking of which, here's another grump. Anyone notice aslarans just got a big downgrade? That's right. A tiny little unimportant disadvantage that was of almost no strategic import and was just really for character, just turned into an actual, tangible disadvantage, when dreamweaving was discovered. You'd think that'd be enough to give us GROOM or the ability to land on our feet.

Ah, groom.
I do miss that.
Balancing would be nice. Not being knocked prone at a mana drain.

Roleplay is definitely important. The only reason I haven't gone dwarf.
Gwylifar2005-04-01 14:34:13
Hmm, you mean the felines have a GROOM ability in another IRE? Or just, you miss the emote?
What I'm suggesting is a very-long-balance-costing ability that does the same thing as a cleanse enchantment without water.

Used that idea in the suggestion I made a the Aslarans topic of ideas forum. Except a very long balance wouldn't make sense, very short balance on the other hand does make sense, since we've already got too many penalties overwhelming our useless advantages.

I'm betting you'd find yourself less effective as a dwarf, and would switch back because of the slow tarot speed. The level 2 health regeneration is a very good bonus, and a level 2 magic damage weakness is nothing, since Magic attacks do very little already, and there are so many resistances available for it.
Thorgal2005-04-01 14:49:45
He'd have more intelligence and be even more tanky though. Dwarf resistances are nuts.
Unknown2005-04-01 14:54:44
What's he going to use that intelligence for? Is it going to increase the worthless magic damage attacks, so he can do 350 damage with cosmicfire instead of 300?
The level 2 regeneration evens things out pretty much, since Loboshigaru have just as much constitution, and magic damage weakness is hardly a weakness at all, just makes you take a little bit more from cosmicfire, moonburst, etc. I believe my moonburst as a 19 intelligence mugwump does about 550-600 or less to Amaru.

It would only be for the size and resistances really. I don't care about intelligence much. But I've worked it all out, it wouldn't be that much better. I like having high dext and level 4 regen, and there's no way I'm getting a belly and a beard.
