I just forgot the spelling, the I dosen't always carry through, some second declesion words are -o, and some the I carries through making it -io. I forgot which one Filus is.

These things take a while. To my understanding everyone is locked away in some part of the Vatican, cut off from all outside rescources. They aren't allowed out until they elect a new Pontiff.

Picking a new Pope is a slow process. Not as slow as an election for s head of state but still slow. All the Cardinals sit in a room and discuss how they want the Church to move forward. Only the Cardinals are allowed in. Spectators and the Media have to stand in St Peter's Square (much like they did to hold vigil for Pope John Paul II.) When they have decided that, they all decide who the best Cardinal would be to lead them. I think, but I'm not sure, that they sort of vote each other of. I think they also get information across to those outside by burning paper in a fire, with incense to colour it. If a certain colour comes out, it means either a Cardinal has been voted off, and that no Pope is chosen yet. If another colour comes out, it's over and there is a new Pope. I might be wrong on all that though.

The Cardinals voting for each other is correct, the seclusion too. The whole rest could also be true... if Angels and Demons bothered to be accurate, because the whole process you just described is practically the same the one described in that book. Hm, ever read it?

Nope. That's what I was taught in Religious Studies.

Okay, I recognised most of those, but what are "Tenrikyo" and "Zoroastrianism?"

Must have missed this.

Zoroasterianism is the worlds first monotheistic religion as well as the first to deal specifically with good and evil. It's named for it's religious text the Zoroaster. Don't know much more about it, it's been a while since World History. Damnable AP American History. No idea what the other one is.
Akraasiel2005-04-04 07:16:34
Zorastrianism was the first monotheism really.
Daganev2005-04-04 08:00:03
How can you call Zoroastrism the first monothiestic religion when it clearly believes in two seperate gods, one god for good and one god for evil?, a God that created the top half of your body and another god that created the bottom half of your body?

As for the picking of the new pope, according to the radio programs I've heard, 117 out of the 170 cardnials who are under the age of 80 vote 4 times a day for the next 9 days. The first person to get 2/3rds +1 of the vote becomes the pope. Pope John Paul II did not get a single vote in the first round of votes in 1978. A new rule was passed that if 2/3 majority is not reached, a 50% +1 marjoity is acceptable after 2 days.

Christianity claims to be a monotheism, and they have four gods, shhh. True monotheisms dont get as many adherants.
Manjanaia2005-04-04 11:57:20
4? I count one God who can be experienced in three ways. Where are the other three.
Akraasiel2005-04-04 12:00:31
okay, if you go that way, two gods, one of which has three facets.
Manjanaia2005-04-04 12:02:16
Who is the other? God and...
Shiri2005-04-04 12:05:04
The Devil.
Manjanaia2005-04-04 12:08:38
The Devil is not a God. In Christianity the Devil is a fallen Angel.
Shiri2005-04-04 12:10:55
Well, I can't guess what else Akraasiel would be referring to, heh.
Manjanaia2005-04-04 12:12:57
Nor me. Ak?
Akraasiel2005-04-04 15:01:18
Supernatural beings=gods

If it has the power to subject a mortal being to either eternal bliss or torment, its a deity. If you want to include the angels in your mythos, include them as lesser deities, dont just run off and say ooooooh, but theyre only angels.

And the earliest forms of judaism on which christianity is based have shown to have been polytheistic.

Additionally, if you pray to more than one 'facet' of a deity, its its own divine. Meh.
Akraasiel2005-04-04 15:03:35
If you really want to go into it, Adonay could be argued to be merely an elevated daimone, just like Lucif(er/el), Jibriel, Belial etc.
Manjanaia2005-04-04 15:20:55
It is a key belief of Christianity that there is one God. One. That is it. You can look at alternate meanings, mythology, rumours, speculation, whatever. But Christianity has one God. God.
Akraasiel2005-04-04 15:52:54
Which god? Yahweh? Adonai? Or this Eloyhim thingy? Or is Jesus God? or what about that Holy Spirit thing? Where are you hiding this One God you keep talking about?
