Have a 50% chance of not getting tripped by the various abilities that throw you prone, be it knockdown, demesne waves or tremors and whatnot.

Even though none of these changes will make us die less fast, we'd at least have a chance to actively hinder our opponent, cause we're not constantly getting smashed down.

I'm going to be Devil's Advocate. Forgive me... your rationale is really messed up. You are trying to argue that Aslarans should be good because Rajamals were good in Aetolia/Achaea/etc? Look at Lucidians... they suck terribly. How many Aslarans are there to Lucidians? Upgrade them.

Yes, except this thread isn't about lucidians...

Comparing aslarans to lucidians is like comparing crucify to dark moon, using that argument to not upgrade it: i.e. rediculous.

Well, I was disappointed to learn how downplayed the Lusternia combat system makes speed, but how the aslaran really don't have anything else going for them and pay pretty heavily with the sipping penalty for it. But that's no worse than a lot of races have it. I'd just like to see them throw us a bone to make up for how another one of our weaknesses just got a lot more important.

Also, can we please make the language name aslari? The help scrolls and web page say aslari, but in the MUD you get the far more cumbersome and ugly "aslaranese".

So that's why Aslaran players are so hard to find? Combat balance? Show's how much attention I pay. I've never even bothered to remember what the racial modifiers are.

I kind of, you know, just want to role-play. I've always known that 90% of players are trying to maximize a set of combat statistics rather than define a style and personality when designing a character, but it's very disheartening to hear that's working directly against me in trying to establish a fun aslran sub-culture for people to get involved in.

I've been kind of trying to do both. Roleplaying is first -- but if one's roleplaying a fighter, one has to get good at fighting to carry it off. Unfortunately the best I can do is roleplay being as good a fighter as an aslaran Serenguard can be, which I haven't reached of course, but even if I had...

I'd thought of going Aslaran, anything has to be better than non-specialized Merian Knight, but the sip penalty is what worries me (the fire too, but I already have that and the lightning weakness). Yeah, the level 1 isn't that bad compared to on Achaea, but when you see Aslaran Knights like Murphy and Alger getting hammered into the ground by physical damage. Take away the sip penalty and I'm sure many people would go Aslaran. It's what turned many people away from Rajamalas on Achaea when they added the level 2 sip penalty and level 1 herb balance. crying.gif

Aslaran is a nice tarot guardian race. High enough int, and a higher con than us fishcakes get. So they aren't a warrior race like rajas. Tough.

Faelings, however...anyone figured out why faelings are the way they are?

The fun part is the aslaran help says they excel at physical professions, but they seem to do the opposite.

It would be nice if each of the races that have no current racial abilities to get one. Aslaran could get something like sprint or balance like Thorgal suggested, but costs mana to keep up. Dwarf could burrow or something, and give Lucidian, Faeling, and Krokani something, they're about the worst possible races right now.
