There's so many factors that vary in mage damage that it's hard to post one log and cry nerf. Blessings, arties, race, max health, skill levels, to name a few. I'm against mages being even close to knight's damage as they have passive effects that utterly own, but they should still hurt a good bit.
If you want less damage from my haymaker, become a faeling. It did 1700 to Tuek as a faeling from his low max hp.

It was also around 75% of my max health...
I don't see how you can call that a little damage.
When I'm a dwarf, your haymaker does like 2800, even with the dwarf racial cutting resist, because of the higher max health.
Edit: The reason damage works like this, is because the amount you sip for is also based off your max health. The more health you have, the more health you sip for, just like you take more damage the more health you have (However, all damage has a base, so there is a minimum it can do, so don't expect to have 1000 health and survive a blow, heh). However, note that the amount you sip for, rises more quickly then the damage rises, so it is ALWAYS beneficial to have higher max health.

You implied it there.Unknown2005-04-02 12:09:36
Technically, I was taking more damage as the Faeling, since it was a greater percentage of my max, and I sip off a much smaller amount of that then I do as a dwarf.

It was sarcasm at those who complain about the damage. Perhaps a would have been appropriate.

It would have.
