Yay, I got it! Just don't ask how much time I spent on it last night before I gave up. unsure.gif

I figured it out in like 3 minutes, does that mean I'm stupid? sad.gif

It's more about thought process then actual intelligence. The greater your amount of education is in say mathematics or science the harder it will be because the easiest way to solve it is with intuitive thinking. So if your area of study is art or literature then it is supposed to be easier for you to solve.
Daganev2005-04-05 18:00:12
SO whats it mean that I read logic books in my spare time and figured it out in 2 seconds?

I think this has nothing to do with how you think or how smart you are. It has to do with if you have been exposed to these types of things before. It just non sensical inuendo and punny behavior that gets associated with a 'puzzle' that requires more for you to think like the designer of the puzzle then to actually look at the pullze itself.

Thus, as soon as it was posted on this thread, and I saw the name of it, and I rolled the dice, the answer was obvious.

Do you always have to be an ornery prig? I said SUPPOSED to be. It's a joke, a game, a silly trival way to entertain and confuse. It can be solved mathematically and it can be solved intuitively. The point is the harder you think about it the harder the game is supposed to be. So great thinkers should in theory have a harder time with it.

There's no need for analysis or waxing obtuse. Just let people enjoy it.

However, If you keep on repeating, the smarter you are the longer it takes to figure it out, your insulting everyone who figured it out quickly. As if its a factor. Its not a factor, its based on experience.

Games that promote a certain culture yet mask that culture with integence are not things that make the world a better place. Its called elitism.

It may be usefull for 5th graders or highschool students who do not realize they are allowed to think things that the teacher isn't instructing them, and there are more than one way to think about problems, but as a social game, this sounds more like the 'emporers new clothes'

Dag, if you bother to go back and look, no one that haven't solved the problem yet have claimed that they are smart. It's rather people that have solved it fast that wondered if they are stupid. And the background on the site stated that it took the professor a year to figure it out, and he 'always claimed' that the smarter you are, the longer it took. That insists he was joking since he didn't want to claim he was stupid. Seriously, read over what others have written before composing your own posts. Too many people have done so on this board, let's not make it a habit.

Self doubt about your own intelegence is what I was arguing against. The smarter people think they are the better off they will be.

You should take your own advice

No, I haven't posted a single thing until now. I've only stated what the people that solved the puzzle fast have said- I solved it fast, does that mean I'm stupid? No one has claimed that people that solved them fast are so, only those people themselves jokingly stated that. And I don't know how can I take my own advice from your quote when I don't agree with it or your post? All I have stated is that you're making assumptions that people are insulting those that solved the puzzle fast, whereas none of them have done so, nothing more.
Unknown2005-04-05 18:58:48
Actually, information that it takes longer for people who are more into math and logical thinking, helps a lot in solving it.

I said to take your own advice because you did not appear to actually read what I wrote.

I'm not talking about anything anyone here said about anything else, I said the game itself, and the fact that it says 'the smarter you are the longer it takes to solve it' is insulting people who figure it out fast.

One day, after the gays have all thier demands met, and who knows whats after that, the ACLU will start to filing lawsuits against sciencentrist thinking and its oppression on people. Then maybe people will understand.

I think its important for people to be able to recognize when 'games' are based around culture and personal experience and not intelegence, especially when its marketed as having anything to do with intelegence level.

I think it has more to do with how you think than how smart you are, the Professor was just trying to make himself feel better.

I guess you can't tell a joke when it's presented to you and when two people wrote it was a joke, can you?
Daganev2005-04-05 19:31:37
And that klu klux klan member is just joking around when he calls his buddy the N word, because normally they are.

But thats ok, I understand that you live in a sciencentrist culture and can't see how it oppresses people who are otherwise very intelegent capable and functional people.

Just as some white people in the South insist blacks had it better when they were slaves and enjoyed it.

The game is fun and cute, but also harmfull, that is all.
Richter2005-04-05 20:05:08
That was pitifully easy. I have a wierd thought process, and though I tend to be overanalytical, I thought outside the box, or rather, inside, and got it on the second try.

Me: How many brothers does the tall meercat have?

*holds up all fingers on one hand*

Them: two?

Me: No, idiot, four

*flips them off*

Them: Jerk! Zero!

Me: Very good grasshopper
Richter2005-04-05 20:17:02
And I still don't get how people were trying to do this with math. *laugh* Read the article with Bill Gates though, I thought that was funny.

Pedal around the rose indeed! *snicker*

If we put a piece of coal in Dag's behind I bet we'd have a diamond in a week. Laugh a little man, take a break from fighting the conspiracies.

Shamarah2005-04-05 22:04:07
I saw this a long time ago and forgot how to do it.

It took me about a minute to figure it out/remember it, but I remember it stumping me for a good half-hour the first time I saw it.

EDIT: And Asarnil... Oh. My. God. I've seen Puzzledonkey before, that thing is insane.
Falasin2005-04-05 23:29:13
Oww, finally I got it. My brain hurts, alot.
Richter2005-04-05 23:41:50
See, wasn't it reallyreallyreallyreally easy? Makes you feel stupid afterwards. sad.gif
