I finally lasted for a while at level 70 without dropping to 69. Died once when I was close to 71st, (I was taking my time), and then this happened, I died like 3 times, and I quit out. Suffice to say, I'm a low level 69 at the moment. MAKES ME ANGRY. SO VERY ANGRY.

My only complaint with the event so far is that it appears geared towards the high-level combatants.
The tentacles are -far- stronger than any other aggressive creature I've seen in Lusternia. Even defending with a team of around a dozen other strong fighters, most of the less tanky (that means health-boosted, right?) people still die repeatedly.
The 'quest' for the shards appears entirely based on killing things on Astral, which aside from being a little odd, really limits the field again to the top fighter/bashers.
Of course I understand the event has really only just begun, but I'm hoping to see a bit more opportunity for everyone to contribute.

I love events like these, especially because I was getting extremely bored running around because "Tehyre raiding da Angkrag!?!/1one11010one?!?" and "ZOMGWTFBBQ tehy're stealing de furrikin things!??!!!)!!one111?eleven1/1/"
But I must say, the whole everyone dieing all the time with an experience loss of around 30-40% everytime really sucked. A lot. I think that's why everyone is whining about the experience loss, there is no Flame of Yggdrasil or however you spell it to immolate corpses. here you have to waste 100 power whenever someone dies. I know in Achaea I was always taking corpses to the Tree. Here it's basically, oh look they died... too bad. I think they should take away the power cost or lower it for immolation. It's a bit ridiculous.

Meh it's just experience, people are too exp focused already.
Genos2005-04-05 01:58:55
That's because it takes hours upon hours upon hours to gain experience when you are high level. I've had characters that were kind of high, around 75 or so. Dieing really sucked then, and now in Lusternia it sucks even more. It's just disheartening, not so much for Genos because he's not that high of a level but with higher level characters I would have to stop playing for a while because it would be annoying to have to spend another two or three hours trying to get that level back.
EDIT: It's just like when you spend about an hour to build a Lego castle. Then your brother walks up and steps on it. Now, I don't know about you but I would be pissed. Especially since I am someone who detests doing what I've done over again. It's the one thing I cannot do, it drives me nuts. That's why I hate it when Genos dies, it's just plain annoying.

Dying repeatedly with no evidence of any sort of progress doesn't annoy you?
Unknown2005-04-05 02:22:39
Mmmm nope, not overly much. Nothing beyond "damnit!" level of annoyance. Besides, there is progress, it just isn't as quick as you are used to.

I totally see your point and the analogy works well but I was saying that maybe your priorities are wrong? Does the level of your character matter more than what is going on?
Singollo2005-04-05 02:44:20
Priorities not the issue. The issue is the level of dying going on considering the future outcome of the part of the event requiring the dying. Its almost guaranteed that the shards will be found, and even if we stopped throwing the admins a bone they would not detroy the world.
So... given that the whole shard thing is set in stone, why should we waste the time we put into getting that level into something that's inevitable? RP? My shoe

Actually, I once played a mud where the world was comming to the end, and everyone thought they could sneak off to the side and let it blow over.
Then one day everyone logged in and found the world had been reset...

I never said my level was more important than what is going on. I really couldn't care at the moment. Genos has jumped into any situation he can to get rid of those tentacles, even if it means him dieing. However, as a player I'm going to be kicking myself in the shins once everything is over and it goes back to normal. Why? Because I'm going to have to spend even more of my time trying to get Genos where I want him so he can help fight. It's not a question of priorities and such, it's just a complaint that everyone is going to be losing experience especially when there are strong aggressive monsters roaming the land and a possessed Goddess going on a rampage without any way to stop her. As in, guess what you automatically die with no way to stop it! I just think it puts a damper on the event because the effect from it willl be quite a thorn in my foot.
Desdemona2005-04-05 03:47:53
I think that the intro was released, everything is set... and I do hope that the conclusion of all this event is multiple shaped and decided according to the action of the players... Players act as if everything is going to be okay, just because Lusternia can't be destroyed= Glomdoring is destroyed completely and every village is burned, so now cities have a deficit because they have to rebuild the villages that were loyal to them. Players contribute, but more Serens were part of this or whatever=Gloriana is restored. Players from Magnagora dominated, and too much time has been Viravain corrupted=Glomdoring is restored with a Viravain turned into the Winter Queen.

Lacostian leaps into the air and launches a flying kick at a robed obesefessor.
Lacostian connects.
Lacostian has scored an OBLITERATING CRITICAL hit!
The final blow proves too much for a robed obesefessor, who expires, pitifully.
A robed obesefessor has been slain by Lacostian.
A large pile of sovereigns spill from the corpse.
MWaahahaha.

The Viravain part was interesting, using the Nature Seal and everyone seeing it and thinking "OH NO, this is BAD VERY BAD" and then the aftermath of the Seal breaking was pretty amusing. Viravain cracks me up.
Since then, all I see is an event that requires highly skilled, high-level people to go die repeated times, not once, but over and over. And anyone else that goes along is just fodder.
I hope there's more to it than the constant death where people who have no business even going to Astral get to have some involvement.

All my lost experience was almost worth it, just to see Elder gods completely raping spheres full of astral mobs.

The whole constant death thing is an essential component of this event my good son. You definately don't want to get involved

Tentacles quickly envelop both Terentia and Hajamin until they disappear from sight, lost within a maelstrom of black and violet fire that springs around the
caging tentacles.
Echoes of pain resound across the skies as Terentia and Hajamin continue to be
consumed. Their cries draw forth Lacostian and Raezon from their silent reverie
and they appear within the sky.
The grave voice of Lacostian, the Mysterial Lord echoes throughout reality,
"This cannot be, We cannot let our Elders be consumed."
The silken sensation of an ebon feather brushes against your mind before pure
flame embodies Raezon's voice, "Indeed, you'd think they would have learned but
We cannot let them be taken."
Grey and blue fire flare into being around the forms of Lacostian and Raezon
and as the fires mingle, the silvery result races towards the still forms of
the Elders trapped within the tentacles.

THAT is interesting/cool. Getting mobbed by 30 obesefessors.. not so interesting/cool

Lacostian and Raezon seem to be working together quite well...I see some pretty major changes in some Divine relationships happening that I hope will continue.

You know, I hope that the Gods do had happen to have scattered the shards all over the Planes not only Astral. Viravain vomited all over Prime, and She managed to visit other planes no? This of course, if the shards were in fact supposed to had been dislodged along with the tentacles. Oh, and maybe they could ease up on the tentacles, too... Unless it is 100% survival of the fittest, and only the superstrong and with 1khealth vials are meant to survive.
Edit: I think Lacostian and Raezon as from the same Circle, as far as I can see, they both seem to be Gods of Knowledge. Anyhow, remember Lacostian is somewhat neutral.
Unknown2005-04-05 04:37:30
Yeah I was thinking about His neutrality, but also about some of His other qualities that seem to work well with Raezon.

They're in each of the 12 nodes. Contrary to what Murphy thinks, there's no order.
