I want to be a taxidermist. It could include a wide variety of "corpse preservation" skills, which might benefit other skills, or be useful art.
Might embalm a body, so anyone who animates it with Necromancy gets a stronger undead, or resurrects it with...whatever that resurrection skill is, the person comes back with more than one health (And maybe a -very- slight reduction in experience lost).
Stuffing bodies, so they can be moved around, and put on display. Who wouldn't want a stuffed Munsia in their trophy room, in a Manse?
Or...um....okay, so I'm running out of ideas here. But don't let that dissuade you! I want to be Ixchilgal the Taxidermist!

What exactly would this trade sell? Dead bodies? :/
Ixchilgal2005-04-06 11:45:15
I don't know about you, but I've noticed a hell of a market for dead bodies.
I've been offered 25k once, to bring someone Munsia's body.
I've seen 10k offered over the market for the bodies of various people.
Hell, I've considered putting cash up for the body of a couple folks.
Don't mock my great idea!

Aha! Things you could sell!
Some of the skills could let you dice up bodies for commodities. Skin a body for some leather. Butcher it for some meat. Decapitate it for a bowling ball (Alright, bowling balls aren't a commodity, but I think that'd still be a widely used skill. "You make a bowling ball out of the skull of Amaru." "This bowling ball was made from the skull of a. It looks vaugely like .")
Mumification, too. The creation of canopic jars, which might have uses to enchanters or Necromancers, or just really, really morbid people.
Think of the possibilities!

I wasn't mocking it, but if this (bizarre) idea were to be implemented it seems far more likely to be a generalised skill like Arts/Planar rather than a trade.
Ixchilgal2005-04-06 12:04:13
Oh man, I'm on a roll! Alchemy, too! It could make use of body parts! I mean, what self-respecting alchemist doesn't need a good supply of testicles of a newt? Raven's eggs? Blood of a hen?! Plus, it'd take some of the burden of herbs for it!
Asarnil2005-04-06 12:04:27
It would give a use to those thousands of bloody ears and scalps us Blademasters accumulate!
Ixchilgal2005-04-06 12:11:15
Bloody scalp...make a wig out of it! Scalp + Tint + Special Preservation Herbs, and you got a wig! Who wouldn't want a blue wig? A Furrikin with a blue wig! They could be Sonic the Hedgehog!...alright, so that's a point -against- this whole idea, but still.
And the ears? Maybe with the right things (Wig, ears, etc.), you could disguise your race. An elf masquerading as a human, or a Viscanti. How better to fit into Magnagora, if you absolutely have to? The RP potential there is mind boggling.

Yes I would like to make jewelry out of people's teeth and bones.
Thorgal2005-04-06 12:50:11
A little like achaea's spiked heads, but taken a little further.
Unknown2005-04-06 12:59:14
I actually really really like it.
Unknown2005-04-17 00:34:33
Screw that stuff, the best use of this would be disguise, like Ialie said.
Wigs, fake ears, etc...
But the best thing would be wearing the entire skin. You skin them, preserve and clean the skin, and wear it in place of a cloak for two lusternian days (it decays after that). You'd look like that person. Literally.
(A person who looks like Himitsu is standing here. He is wielding...)
And think of the RP possiblities if that person walked in while you were wearing the skin?!?!?!!
("You! Skin-theif! Corpse desecrater!")
("AAaaaaaagh...! *burble* *thud*)
("Imposterors must die." *sagenod*)

It should just say Himitsu is there. Disguise is pointless if it doesnt work.
*cough masks idea like 5 year ago*

I thought you said Revan's eggs. I was like ............

Faethan2005-04-17 05:33:29
Why is your instant an artifact? And how does the legend rule play with instants? No two on the stack at once?
Drago2005-04-17 06:01:41
I like the idea though.. sorta.. its a bit.. weird.
Maybe a place where you can take corpses for this to happen instead? I know I'd pay for the shruken head of Methrenton.
Ceres2005-04-17 18:35:07
Targer offer or action?
