So do I. Very good idea.
Amaru2005-04-08 10:54:28
There'd have to be something like linking to a node where you're bound to the shrine and it periodically connects with you (shattering prismatic). Otherwise someone could like.... shrineblock and trueheal, then sit behind barrier.

Yes, it is entirely workable.
Murphy2005-04-08 10:57:36
I too like this idea
Shamarah2005-04-08 11:10:42
Only should be one shrineblocker at a time, though, probably.

Yup, nobody wants an army of shrineblockers
Asarnil2005-04-08 12:25:56
And then we can add a shrineleap skill so serpent users can still get around it

QUOTE(Drago @ Apr 8 2005, 02:10 AM)
See Narsrim, you -still- look stupid, because you didn't deny what I said at all.
Lichdom lets me.. walk in and die.
Serpent would let me.. walk in, defile a bit, and leave alive.
Boohoo, there's a few attacks that hit you in serpent.
You still defiled the shrine, without getting destroyed in return, I'm sure.
On the "attacks which go through barrier" (I know they exist, so trying to insinuate that I don't is stupidity on your part) how many of them are enough to make you stop defiling?
And Elryn -
Unless that changed without a post about it (quite possible), you're wrong.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add the "if I had lichdom." I realize that lichdom may only allow you to walk in and die... sorry for the confusion.
On another note, let's assume I was a Nihilist instead of a Moondancer. I walk into the room with the shrine and cast greater pentagram... you can't even get into the freaking room. When I am finished, I pick up the monolith that I theoretically dropped and hermit away... what's the difference?
Murphy2005-04-08 14:40:14
Difference is moonbeam and flow both go through the monolith
Drago2005-04-08 14:40:49
The nihilist can still get attacked and killed.

92595
Heh. You people never cease to amaze me! First and foremost, how many shrines are in forests? 10 total? What a ridiculous argument. Plus, nature flow doesn't go through greater pentagram (last time I checked... not even burrow did).
Second, beam would work... it is like the only viable option. Of course, the Dreamweaving skillset goes through prismatic barrier (for the most part) so that is just as viable against Serpent.
Lesson of the day: there are attacks that go around Serpent just like there are attacks that go around Greater Pentagram.
Thorgal2005-04-08 15:41:54
Well, all you have to do, is compare the state of the shrine after a necromancer without serpent defiled it, and after someone with serpent defiled it. The thing is, all cities can get serpent, so it's not really a balance question.

I could be wrong, but which Celest guild has the option of Lowmagic?

*point Ceres* Or is she an ex-paladin now? If she isn't, it still isn't too late to persuade her to take low magic.

She has highmagic. Alas. I honestly think having trueheal/serpent would be crazy effective:
You get jumped by 15 people, trueheal (remember, it heals paralyze, bindings, etc.), hide behind prismatic barrier till you regen 10p, Serpent, moon your enemies and walk away.

Daganev2005-04-08 18:54:40
You can still barge into greater pentagrams.
I like the shrineblock idea too.
