I don't want to see these type of artifacts (although having said that, it probably makes it more likely). An artifact that allows racial languages to be picked up by anyone detracts from the uniqueness of that race.

It also means speaking in racial languages becomes utterly useless, as you are no longer addressing your race alone.

First, yes I know Babel Fish is more universal than Douglas Adams, but really, what's more awesome than the Hitchhiker's Guide Universe?

On a serious note regarding language artis, I think either having an arti that'd be sort of like a changeling thing except for languages would be cool. So in otherwords you could add one language to your knowledge and change it every RL day. Another idea is the one stated above, where it's one arti per language, but that'd still allow someone to know all languages.

The idea I really like, is where you have an arti that allows you to learn languages gradually. Maybe it'd have levels, but it'd be cheap relatively to other artis. Basically if you had this arti, and you heard a shout in another language, and you didn't know it, it'd show a garbled message. However, as you heard more and more of that language it'd eventually get to the point where there'd be little defects. The thing though is that over time you lose this on the languages that aren't native to you. If the arti had levels each level would decrease how much is taken off of your knowledge over time, and allow you to learn quicker.

I just want more artifacts <= 100cr, that do novel things. Cool things, maybe not useful things. Yeah, I can grab a pack, or some vials, but they don't have enough "ooo, shiney" to really draw me to buy them.
