I noticed the Imperian races nearly all having racial abilities, they're not powerful or anything, but they make sense and are really fun to use, I think we oughta follow Imperian's lead in that direction, racial abilities really give the races more color.

I so agree! As a dwarf, I should be able to mine for gems in Rockholm, Southgard, or Angkrag... nothing fancy... with a crappy percentage rate like forage is for finding food... it'd so cool though.

Yeah, that was something off the top of my head. I was thinking of using some of those ideas but not all when I finally worked it out and suggested it properly. But yeah, as an improvement, it's better than the elfen -> high elfen one, for two reasons. 1) I suggested it at level 50, so you have to work for it. 2) Faelings -need- the boost

Level 50 isn't really working for it. And the point was more that Faelings need the boost, but although they should be pretty good (same with Furrikin), they shouldn't be as good or better than Elfen/Merian/Viscanti when powered up.

Elfen are definately not the worst, not even remotely, the only city racial imbalance in existance is merian lords being a bit sub-par as a warrior race, imperial merians, elfen and viscanti are all fine.

Yeah Elfen were perfectly fine. They have pretty fast eq with paint face lightning. I really noticed this after going Viscanti. and with Lowmagic they get +1 con and have Autumn for quicker xp gain.

It is, especially for a faeling.

No, no it isn't. Compare a dracnari's breath weapon to some intense stat upgrades. If anything, those would be FLAT upgrades to Faelings, not level 50 things. If you do that, you're fooling yourself into thinking that you have to put work into it, and thus are more inclined to make them higher buffs than necessary.

Not much harder than it is for me. And you don't HAVE to do Astral, which is the only place you really can't cope with, to get to level 50. You only really need Astral at level 60+. Besides, you can always get to 50 as a human and reincarnate into a Faeling.

And drop the non-changeling stuff.

Pfff, I'm level 75 and barely ever bashed Astral, WITH an exp penalty. Questing, desert, glomdoring and spectres are enough to reach level 80 on in a decent amount of time, and you don't need to be tanky for those at all. Nearly every race has an exp penalty, you're acting as if it's a faeling-only thing .

I was just pointing out, that stat wise, they have much less strength then a Viscanti specialized, and only 12 constitution as an elfen lord. And as for Mages, they lack the faster equilibrium then the Merian, and have less intelligence. You are much better off as a Mugwump or Dwarf if you are a Druid or Wiccan, and much better off as a Dracnari or something else as a Warrior. In comparison, Viscanti make great warriors (with a natural 16 strength and no balance penalties). Elfen aren't bad, they are just mediocre, and you are better off as something else.

Since I have become a changeling, I have never once gone back to Elfen, they are just ineffective.

The thing is that Dracnari would be a great race for almost all classes, especially knights. I don't really understand why someone would be a Viscanti Ur'guard over a Dracnari Ur'guard, or anyone would bother being Elfen Serenguard. The drawbacks to Dracs of sip penalty, cold weakness, and low dex are all pretty much easily balanced out by the fact they sip more since they have higher health, only one class can do cold damage, and it's only half cold, and dex have almost no effect whatsoever in combat.

It's pointless to be a High Elfen unless you want to curse or moonburst people to death, otherwise, yeah, it's a bad specialized race compared to Merian or Viscanti.
