I transcended the influence skillset around 3 months ago, and have never once been able to use it while influencing a village, which is why I got it.

So, I heard someone mention that influencing a mobile with paranoia lowers the turn over time without you having to kill them or get enemied from the village. Anyone know if this is true?

Influence is rubbish.

I thought it was the weakening ones, not paranoia. But I could be wrong.

Weakening in essence lowers a mobiles NPC level, so it becomes weaker, easier to kill, does less damage, etc. Conversely it is worth less experience. Empower (Compliments, Admiration, Praise) is the opposite, making a denizen's level increase, thus raising there health, damage, and so on.

I know. But I thought it had the added effect of making them revolt faster. And complimenting had the added effect of making them revolt slower.

I think paranoia jsut made them act weird, on some mobs it made them reject interaction with people, or instead of smiling to them getting angry to them. Quite funny.
Influence is fast experience, low risk. It's great.

back when I actually cared about my level, stats, or skills, I used my influence quite frequently for quick exp, etc.

The influence skillset, however, is not really valuable almost at all for village influencing, except maybe the superego and debating stuff. Charismaticsmile is also very nice for disloyalty because it cures a bunch of stuff that is hard/impossible to cure otherwise, and it does so just by smiling. I love it!

it's difficult to lose an experience battle, you can always run away of your bromide gets low, and if you die you don't go praying and have to walk back to where you were, I really loved the skillset.
and I think one of the last skills was good for entity users, but I only remember having been told that by somebody.

I haven't used Influencing for much, but giving a denizen Paranoia makes it so quests can't be completed. I remember influencing King Bolete in Newton and watched some poor novice come and try to give him the flowers, he said something along the lines of "Don't you know flowers are the tool of the enemy?!?!?!" It was funny at the time, but I felt kind of bad about it. tongue.gif

Well, influencing is easy experience if you have the fast eq so they never debate you back tongue.gif
Iridiel2005-04-10 22:05:44
And that's why faelings are angry at merians for their influencing skills tongue.gif

Don't forget mugwumps.

Level 2 equi bonus.
Iridiel2005-04-11 12:58:23
But merians have decent charisma, and blue is a nice colour. Mugwumps are too froggy tongue.gif

Since I started playing, I've only lost one influence battle, and that was because my damn ISP decided it was time cut my connection... and it was against Thane, too, so it hurt muchly sad.gif

Mugwumps > all.

Though I do think mugwumps should recieve a dexterity/charisma reduction, and in turn recieve a bonus to constitution. *nudge Estarra*
