Hmm, 4 people have voted yes but only one has said why they think poor faelings are balanced.

Faethan2005-04-10 03:45:25
Faelings would be balanced, if influence had more use. As it is, they need something. I can't for the life of me figure out that XP penalty, though. How do faelings (and furrikin) need an XP penalty when Viscanti do not?
Gwylifar2005-04-10 03:45:28
Well, if they weren't, they'd tip over sideways!
Wait, that might explain Ialie.

I was one of the four. I agree with what Silvanus has been saying (especially on saying that there are multiple other races that could do well with an upgrade and even so aren't as remotely as popular as faelings), though my opinion regarding Faelings is that they could really do without their xp. impediment and could do great with a level 1 faster balance recovery. One question though, don't Faelings shine at Influencing?
Unknown2005-04-10 03:54:08
If you call "shining at Influence" a level 1 drinking bonus for bromide.
Mugwump/Merian would be much better though.

not really, since faster eq is much more important than more charisma, mugwumps and merians are much better influencers

In certain guilds, yes. Of their own merit, all races with a faster equilibrium recovery are better at influencing than faelings.
Unfortunately for us, influencing really doesn't come into combat.
Also, I'm not asking which race should be first for an upgrade, I'm asking if Faelings are balanced or not.

Just a wee bit painful.

Actually, in IRE games it pretty much is. Point me to any archetype in Lusternia that doesn't have all three guildskills revolving almost exclusively around combat.

Considering every organization has a way to hurt the other via village influence/honours quest, city or planar quest, and so on I think that's just

Even an unofficial organization, such as the Disciples of Crow or Seekers of the Flame, had combat issues constantly due to roleplay causing other organizations to engage in conflict with them.
Daganev2005-04-10 04:10:18
Credits revolve around combat, Credits are not everything, combat is not everything.
Conflict is not combat.
If you never leave prime and never enter an enemy village or territory you should theoretically never be forced into combat.

I voted No. I think they need rebalancing.
There is no reason why a faeling should get an exp disadvantage. Mind you, I see no reason why a lot of races are cursed with an exp disadvantage.
Personally, I think they should either have faster eq or bal - or even both. They are the smallest of the races, and one would think quick - what with 17 dexterity.
Charisma seems to be their shining stat but it is isn't exactly great when you take into account that faster eq beats charisma in influencing any day.

Come to think of it i could probably RP the type of guy you don't want to meet in the dark part of the forest.......sounds like some fun.

Of course, that's just "theoretically". In practice, things can be quite a bit different.

I had a long reply ready, but I'm just going to summarize it with faces and a single word.
That's

Edit: In Lusternia that is.

Note that I didn't curse you?
My point was merely that there is combat involved even in areas that are not "enemy villages".
