Are Faelings balanced?

However, Faeling druids ARE the best Influencers & Dreamweavers (so long as they have some absinthe)

As Druids, they have TrueHeart, Lightning, and Demesne Influence.. which gives them the enhanced equilibrium they need to never get countered.. and so, they're higher charisma gives them more charisma, and causes them to need less attacks to win..

And, in Dreamweaving, their high ego allows absinthe to really shine, plus, if they're tri-trans, they also can have 11 Con, and they could whip a few people in a burst-battle. Of course.. then you have Blessing ontop of that... Faeling are definitely capable of pwning the dreamrealm.

If you never leave prime and never enter an enemy village or territory you should theoretically never be forced into combat.

That worked well for the Crows.

Congratulations. Per announce 254, y'all are now horrendously overpowered!
Desdemona2005-04-11 01:20:00
+3 Faster Balance gain now... Sounds that faelings are going to be scary.

Edit: Yeah, a Balance 3 was way too much, two would've been alright. Oh well, Faelings got their upgrade... how about if Taurians are next? Give us a bone?

Edit: A second thought, I thought greater equilibrium for Faelings was what would've probably helped them more than the Balance advantage?
Gwylifar2005-04-11 01:25:06
They needed something. I'm just not sure that this was it. Of course, I might just be sore because aslaran only had one thing, being the fastest -- our whole history and myth is based on it -- and now we're not anymore, all of a sudden. So maybe I'm not being objective.

Look on the brightside - you don't get killed by falling leaves.
Unknown2005-04-11 01:28:31
Unless some major mojo was pulled codeside to change balance and specifically alter the scaling of level 2->3 advantages, Faeling is gonna be pure awesome now.

Edit: I am glad you guys got a bone but, it's a bit overkill tongue.gif
Unknown2005-04-11 01:38:40
Nah. Just useful for Runes. The strength wouldn't do much for shieldstun, though Hartstone Faeling is going to be awesome for Runist fighters.

Everything else uses EQ.

Edit: Going to be being??
Unknown2005-04-11 02:03:58
Nah, it's not that HUGE of a deal. They aren't going to make good warriors, despite Murphy's silly ideas.
Unknown2005-04-11 02:27:37
How is it overkill? Faeling classes use equilibrium.. its more like a nice little bit of icing on the cake rather than a true uber-boost.. but its just the right sort of icing :-P
Murphy2005-04-11 02:28:22
ahem

Silly ideas? I never said they would be great, just workable with really fast hammers......imagine constant knockdown and paralyse? they'd be close to being able to keep someone constantly paralysed and prone.

Um, can someone put up the announce post here for those of us who can't log in at the moment?

Subj: Faeling Upgrade

Faeling now have a +3 balance advantage. No need to keep complaining on the forum. Yes, especially you Elryn.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Juliary, in the year 114 CE.
Elryn2005-04-11 04:14:04
I have one thing to say to that.

Pffffffffffffffffffft.

Edit: Actually, I have more. Yes, thats lovely that a change has been made to balance recovery. Unfortunately, that does not address a single concern that has been raised about Faelings.

It is almost entirely a cosmetic change, as only Faeling knights are really going to benefit from it. And who in their right mind would create a Faeling knight?

Gah, this is worse than no change at all. I could live with hope for improvement. Now we are damned entirely.

No, that's not true. I'm appreciative that mention has been made, but why not address the concerns, rather than throwing a random upgrade that has no effect on them?

And I don't know if you added the Elryn bit, Terenas, but like hell there's no need to complain.

Yeah, I still don't see how Faelings are helped by faster balance. I see a total of three good things for me:

1) If my alchemy reflexes are good, I can fill all my vials and leave immediately after the potion is done.
2) Shovels take like half the time to make.
3) I can swing into the trees and shove people out faster.

No idea what you're talking about. halo.gif
Elryn2005-04-11 04:33:00
In fact, can anyone from the administration explain WHY this change was implemented?
Unknown2005-04-11 04:38:54
Well, you can always switch to Runes. ninja.gif

The balance makes perfect sense without making them a super attractive race, but I guess I see the point of you Druid/Wicca types.

Just throw up a lightning facepaint and enjoy it though? At least until something else is voiced from the admin on it.
Sylphas2005-04-11 04:50:51
I'm almost regretting having changed from Faeling to Elfen. With Lightning, Faeling have lvl 2 balance, lvl 1 equilibrium. The only real drawback would be losing 3 int and con, but I'd have faster sipping and an extra level of regeneration to make up for that, at least in part. And a knowledge blessing saves most of the int.

And I miss flying, now that I don't have my broom.

Unknown2005-04-11 05:02:09
At least someone sees it. smile.gif

I didn't think about it before, but even adding a +1 equilbrium boost would make this race too perfect for Hartstone. Seeing as Wiccans have brooms there isn't much reason for them to whine at much as a Hartstone Faeling might.
