Why does the child have to be 20 years old to consider them?
Lyren2005-04-10 04:49:08
I think in Achaea and/or Aetolia's system, the child had to be 20, and so that just carried over here - though in Lusternia, children can start at 16, so it does seem a little..extreme.
Daganev2005-04-10 04:51:15
I thought that was changed...
Iridiel2005-04-11 13:08:37
I think it was like that in achaea to prevent people adopting novice after novice and creating huge families that wouldn't look at all reasonable.
Or for the same reason that you couldn't play blackjack until you were 21 *frown*

I think it's "so they get used to it, and if they make a commitment to the game they have time to get used to it and not make stupid irreversible decisions."
I mean, if you adopt someone fresh out of the portals who ends up not liking their parents or changing guilds in their first few days, they're going to be annoyed.
But...of course, with variable starting ages in Lusternia, this doesn't work.

Divine, please look at this thread!
Lyren2005-05-07 22:13:34
Yes, I understand the reasoning behind the player needing to have a certain amount of time spent in the game before they can be considered, but it should depend on the player's original age - someone who walks out of the Portal at 16 shouldn't have to wait four years while a 21 year old gets off free.
Singollo2005-05-07 22:35:20
Actually, could a moderator close this. I think its trivial and tiresome to see it surface with no answer because someone is bored. The divine don't necessarily have time to answer all of our piddling insignificant questions. It's probably just residual code that they haven't found the time to remove or look at. In the mean time, just wait the two months maximum it takes for a player to turn 20.
Unknown2005-05-07 22:44:35
um.. Singollo... just don't read it. Don't ask a mod to close something when its a legitimate question that someone wants an answer to.
Singollo2005-05-07 22:46:15
It was started a month ago, and bumped quite a few times, and given several possibly good explanations. Just because he isn't getting the one he wants from the person he wants doesn't mean he has to repeatedly surface it. Its the principal of it.
Silvanus2005-05-07 23:06:12
So any question you ask from now on, maybe I'll ask for the thread to be closed.
Yes, it is a legitimate question, and yes it was answered, but hasn't been explained why it hasn't been changed. I'm sure the in-Game Admins have better things to do then change it.

Yes, when that question goes unanswered for a month while I routinely bump it because its so important I absolutely have to have input from people working on much much more important things, then you may ask for my topic to be closed and I assure you I will not complain.
Unknown2005-05-07 23:20:38
Singollo, if the Admins are surfing the forums, they OBVIOUSLY have the time to type up a 3 setence little quip about not having gotten around to it, but it's on their list of 'to do' things, doncha think?
Singollo2005-05-08 00:51:02
I'm sure that's why they have responded to every thread which asked for clarification.

Bumped repeatedly? I only count once.
Drago2005-05-08 03:54:22
His question is valid - if you can't consider someone that's younger then 20, the person can just start their character at 20 and bypass this requirement, thus the requirement is rather stupid.

Silvanus did another topic (bumped twice) about the exact same thing.
Silvanus2005-05-08 05:04:25
This is the only topic I've done, and I've bumped it twice.
Silvanus2005-05-08 05:05:16
Oh wait, there was only one bump. This is the only thread I've made though... I think a Mod deleted the post where you said I bumped it.

Oh. Or that. Hmm.
