Back to Common Grounds.

Actually, I have to admit that at level 63 (+ strongfavour + yellow + torc + stagform regen + forest regen) for the first time I was able to kill Astral beasties.

Sure, only lobstrosities that were alone, but I did it! And boy are you guys spoilt. tongue.gif They drop almost 250 gold each, and give oodles of experience. Two lobstrosities = influencing Maeve.

But yes, *point cudgel* *desperately heal* *point cudgel* *fly* and repeat seemed to work. I got close to death, but it was possible, at least.

Well I like and dislike the changes to Faeling... it's a very nice themed ability... Faelign can move physically very fast, that makes sense to me. The bit I dislike of course is the fact it does nearly nothing. Runes is a cool idea, as is the Faeling knight build, both of which I intend to try over time. With the extra health from Surge and so on, Faeling's extra strong sip might be fairly good, I don't know. Definately something I will try.

I disagree.  The best class at the moment appears to be a Faeling Hartstone who takes runes.

Regeneration in your demesne, slinging runes moderately quickly, and multiple abilities to increase influencing effectiveness.

Not to mention a Faeling Nihilist is just bizarre.

Faeling nihilists is not bizarre

Guardian Defences > hartstone defences
Can influence undead
tarot > runes
Dont need as many enchantments
Populus + Highmagic one I cant remember the name of

I meant bizarre as in it has to be rather extreme RP to explain it.

I think you're after Netzach... and yea... those two rocked for boosting my Charisma as a Faeling Guardian... only problem is... that Merian do the job so much better. The extra eq means you can influence fast enough that the denizens can't get a reply in, making you lose far less ego and do it far quicker.

The Faeling Nihilist has got to be worth a try as well... Sting would be scary good... can't diagnose that! Heh...

That would be why Stag facepaints give Faelings the edge in influencing.

Ahh... they really ARE meant to be Hartstone then! Gods they must be scary influencers.

I started bashing on Astral at level 42 as a Mugwump Nihilist smile.gif
Elryn2005-04-14 23:38:05
Bah!

By the way, aside from Maeve and Laeroc... anyone know of any other high-level influence mobiles? (That aren't undead) I think I'll keep trying to slog it out on Astral, no way can most influencing compare to that.

What about the Moon Avatars?
Elryn2005-04-14 23:53:51
They are immune to influence. As are all denizens of Celestia (and I assume Nil as well). The Manifestations are animals and hence can't be influenced at all.

Hmm. Quettle, the master of the Tosha Monastery? He's rather tough... I found that out the hard way after my bashing reflex hit him after getting a hunter and I almost died. Let's see... what about Nexus guardians like Miakoda, etc?

Its not hard to explain at all.
Elryn2005-04-15 01:08:44
No harder than a Viscanti Moondancer, I suppose.

"Well, sure my mother was a Nature Spirit... but that doesn't mean I have any inherent affinity myself. Is there a reason I embraced the Taint? Nah, my ancestors fighting a war against it didn't really matter, and its not like I'm part of a force that wants to destroy my people and home."

It happens. You get traitors sometimes. Fact of life, not everyone's as patriotic as people would like to believe.
Elryn2005-04-15 01:15:04
Oh, for sure. But it should be as rare as seeing Viscanti in Serenwilde, or Elfen in Magnagora or Orclach in Celest.
Desdemona2005-04-15 01:16:26
Or is it more like "Sorry, I didn't ask to be born this way. My father from Serenwilde liked to visit the doxy House in Magnagora a lot... My mommy told me, that it was around then that Lord Fain had given her a very special gift. The gift was me, of course *smile*. Well, anyway, my mommy died, and she gave me a letter saying... 'Seek your father in the Serenity of the Wilde, let him love you and keep you away from a life like mine'. So I did, and I am here because I like all the pretty flowers, the animals, the horns of the Stag, and oh I am also looking for my father. I think I'll give him quite a surprise *giggle* I love the forest, it is much lovely than that disgusting Taint covered city!"

Anyway, I think faelings were made to be examined, measured, and collected like butterflies. tongue.gif

I dunno about the Orclach in Celest thing.

But yeah.
Elryn2005-04-15 01:19:07
I was talking about a Faeling Nihilist, Des... though yeah, that could work for a Viscanti Moondancer.

And aye Shiri... wasn't so sure about that after I posted it. Heh.
Desdemona2005-04-15 01:19:15
Orclach used to be under Celest's army, so you should be able to see them in Celest. Though probably wouldn't be very common, I don't think every Orclach embraced the Taint.
