The mugwump put up a brave fight, but the viscanti has won the poll for the next sneak peak of our fabulous artwork! She is probably a young nihilist, not having received her wings yet, but she certainly shows promise. With her horns, we may guess that she has a bit of taurian ancestry pre-taint, and she looks to have had a generous dose of human blood. Though I love them all, she's one of my favorites!

all I can say is WOW
Alger2005-04-12 07:42:58
spartan looks so familiar...
Unknown2005-04-12 07:45:40
...whoa. Great.

I was really looking forward to seeing the Nihilist with all the odd wings and other growths though. Can't have it all. Still a great picture.

Yay for Spartan and Estarra!

Incredible

Mmm... I liked the faeling better. I always imagined Viscantis as not being the most attractive beings in the world, considering that they're all Tainted and oozing and stuff, but I guess it affects people in different ways, eh?
Murphy2005-04-12 08:13:09
Bah they are twisted, not ugly and have growths everywhere...

she seems the dominatrix type, someone got her number?
Nayl2005-04-12 08:17:56
She'd be fun to hang out with
Unknown2005-04-12 08:24:45
She has large mammaries.
Nayl2005-04-12 08:29:03
Point?
Oh, and to make something contributory, YAY, she's purple, just needs like, more veins, wings, scales and such, and you would have Nayl, when she was viscanti
Shiri2005-04-12 08:30:01
It's fantasy art, that's like a requirement. dry.gif

(He better not screw up the Furrikin.)
Nayl2005-04-12 08:34:34
Wonder how many breasts the furrikin female warrior will have

Furry nipples!
Nayl2005-04-12 08:37:52
That means three pairs
*nod me*
Unknown2005-04-12 08:39:14
I thought that was obvious.
Nayl2005-04-12 08:40:44
Not necessarily...
I'm still curious if taurians have udders, or breasts, or... whatever

Well, actually, the viscanti were meant to be an extraordinarily vain race who prized surface beauty (not really recognizing any other kind of beauty). Maybe we failed somewhat from concept to implementation, but in Magnagora the viscanti upper class were envisioned as enjoying living in the lap of luxury, surrounding and outfitting themselves only in the finest. Even the undead classes tried to maintain a physical surface beauty and those who 'let themselves go' and became extremely grotesque were an embarassment to the Great Houses and sent off to work in the Angkrag mines by their families to keep them out of sight. I think we even set upon the idea of some of the more decrepit undead viscanti who were still in Magnagora (because of their power and connections) only going out in public wearing elaborate masks in order to hide their failing physical form.

Didn't know that, maybe I just haven't read all the stuff or looked around Magnagora thoroughly enough to have gotten it... That sounds like a really cool idea, but the player descriptions of Viscanti that I've seen have been all veins and growths and generally not-very-healthy looking. Based on that idea I've got no problems with the picture, it just didn't fit my mental image of what they looked like...

It's one of those cases where the lead project designer of Magnagora dropped out as a builder (this was a year ago). She was the one with whom I brainstormed these concepts. As is the case with any project as vast as Lusternia, this type of problem always crops up (and this was a small setback compared to others--believe me at times I had doubts that Lusternia would ever get off the ground). Though we did document some of these concepts, the truth is that Magnagora ended up being finished by multiple people who may or may not have had time to go over the documentation, and certainly there were time crunches involved where I was probably screaming at people to finish Magnagora.

Anyway, feel free to nudge the Magnagora patrons to have a little chat with the denizens of that city to be a little more forthcoming!
