Achaea's Grook Mage was as closest as you can get to a Mugwump here I guess and it was horrible. It looked just like a Frog!Â

Mugwumps are nothing like Grooks.
Jack2005-04-12 15:12:21
Mugwumps aren't short, flat and gimpy.

In regards to Viscanti in general, I always imagined them to be sort of Drow-esque, and Magnagora sort of like an outdoor Menzoberranzan... extremely beautiful and wonderous, but only spoiled by the extreme darkness inherent withing (even though Magnagora's not evil, where Menzoberranzan is). I always thought of Viscanti as extremely beautiful *shrug* Maybe I read too much?
Shiri2005-04-12 16:28:29
Psh. Magnagora's evil. Demon worshipping and all. We WENT over this.
Jack2005-04-12 16:29:06
Not evil.
Tainted.
Tainted.
Shiri2005-04-12 16:38:37
Evil AND Tainted.
Jack2005-04-12 16:40:09
They're about as evil as Celest.. Or Serenwilde.
They just have different beliefs.

Shiri2005-04-12 16:46:42
That's a load of...mud.
Jack2005-04-12 16:47:06
Ssh, stop spamming. I took this to MSN for a reason.
Daganev2005-04-12 17:08:07
Interesting... I knew the viscanti were vain and cared only about outward appearances, but I was also under the impression that they had a completely different view of what is beutifull than me
Veonira2005-04-12 17:24:39
I always thought that also, Dag. But Veo IS a really pretty Viscanti, or at least she's supposed to be. She's got a pretty face, but she also has scales and horns. But she happens to be proud of all of her features, and finds things that are tainted to be beautiful.
Anyhow, that picture is really nice. And uh, what Iridiel said. But that's just a trend with artists and females . There's no forgetting the girls.

Considering the size of her gams, her mammaries really arn't that large...

Uh. They do.
You find fur attractive. Lots of fur. And a snout. If you're a typical Igasho.
Viscanti women are attractive like human and Elven women are attractive. Except taller, sometimes red/purple, and with the occasional set of horns and/or wings.
Daganev2005-04-12 17:31:05
That not really what I ment.
An igasho would find soft fine hair thats well brushed to be attractive, while a tainted igasho would find patchy, messy hair thats not covering everything to be attractive.

I dunno... to be frank the art is great. This artist really has some skill and I'm glad to see that the races are in the hands of someone capable.
Nonetheless, all this talk of beauty is not how I envisioned MY Viscanti. My own character has a skeletal face, no nose or lips and a mouth full of teeth. There are no cheeks but the muscles to work the jaws are there... He has no tentacles or pulsing flesh, but he is insanely demonic.
I mean, the taint is exactly what it is. Beauty or not, the taint eventually worms its way into your system, to the point where I imagine a Viscanti sees such horrific apparations as something to be prided over.
This is mostly directed to the game designers and programmers... while I realize that you had a "vision" in mind for Viscanti, with such nice appearances and all... people want to play things that are evil and horrifying too, and Viscanti is the only real thing that allows this.
Speaking as a D&D player AND a White Wolf player, I say let people play their evil and dark visages. I know I wouldn't have half as much fun with my character if I knew he was "handsome". That's lame to me. Don't try to force people's imaginations too much. Allow flexibility. Luckily seeing this pic wouldn't force my hand in imagining my character, but keep in mind people have more fun with freedom.
You don't have to, and it is probably too late either way, but I'd recommend posting a more demonic and less "physically" attractive Viscanti in addition to this so people get a good spectrum to imagine in. You'll keep people comin'. Evil and ugly is VERY cool, so don't scare off potential players. Remember, charisma is also the force of your personality. A hideous Viscanti with a strong personality can still exert his ego on others.

That is a very beautiful she-devil. I guess one of the Taint's greatest forces was meant to be seduction... A pity, because Magnagora is currently not very seductive.
By the way, I always thought mugwumps had warts. Does the mugwump portrayed in the picture possess thousands of warts crossing all over her body?
Edit: Just something I think some have failed to notice. According to my understanding by what Estarra said, Viscanti can be both grotesque and drop-dead gorgeous. The beautiful ones were of more respect among the Viscanti, while the grotesque normally would end up being exiled from a place of beauty... or if they were powerful enough, they'd stay within Magnagora and concealing their horridness with a mask (think of the Phantom of the Opera. I think that the Viscanti world meant to uphold superficial beauty quite high, especially if it was theirs.

No warts.

All I can say is that the artwork is really awesome. The artist portrayed what a Viscanti would look like very well, in my opinion. However...
I have to agree to this.

One more thing, grotesque plus evil is so stereotypical nowadays. I guess every roaring, toad looking, fiend must be evil. What ever happened with the the beautiful yet dangerous/treacherous kind of "evildoers"? Does the Taint have to have evil deeply imbedded around them? Who is evil in Lusternia when all parties are equally fighting to expand?

You are exactly right.
