It seems to mean that people are getting tax returns, and IRE wants a cut. They were getting mine anyway, but this is quite nice.

Heh, doesn't it though? I managed to get something closer to $50 back. I'll be getting a nice one next year though, as Maryland has been ganking my money hand over fist. You should see my "This is what money we've taken" list I get with my paycheck. Its depressing. Wish I could buy credits, but the parents are bound to notice a unusual addition to their credit card bill, and thats not really a road I want to go down (a friends brother tried that on achaea, was never allowed on it again ). And, not having any credit cards of my own, I'm kinda stuck. Oh well, maybe someday.

It's nice that I don't actually owe them money for once. Somehow, they always managed to make me pay them even more.

It's actually better to owe than to be owed in this case. You pay the same amount either way, but if you owe in the end, that means that the money you owe was sitting in your bank earning interest all year.

But then we have to find the money to pay it, 'cause we already spent it during the year!

And it looks like I might not get any this round. When you're almost 20 and your parents start to want to throw you out, you need all the money you can get.

How does this work (or not work) with the new character bonus lessons. If you buy hundred credits do you get:

120 credits and 240 lessons
or
120 credits and 288 lessons

My wife and I owe around $1800 in taxes this year, but she saved up around $3000, so we're good. And, unfortunately, the extra $1200 will not be going towards credits for me.

No, the bonus lessons only count for the 100 bought credits.

Just say you're leaving, even go to spend a few days at a friends house. In less than two weeks they'll be all sad and throwing not so subtle hints about you needing to come back home, and they feeling sad of not being able to take care of you, feed you, making sure you go to the street with warm clothes... Mothers are like that usually.
