QUOTE
Hefting his spear, a centaur hunter drives it into Visaeris, stabbing him in
the side.
Visaeris has been slain by a centaur hunter.
The soul of Visaeris says, "Bah."
Seeing his situation to be hopeless, Visaeris begins uttering fervent prayers
for salvation.
You pick up the corpse of Visaeris.
Rugged elms.
The stars twinkle in the clear night sky. Reaching up as high as the eye can
see looms the awesome presence of a living totem. Wreathed about in vines, a
large altar carved from shining silver stands here, glowing with ethereal
moonlight. Mushrooms are growing here in a perfect circle.
You see exits leading east, southwest, and northwest.

I know. I demand that you die again so I can offer your corpse! You owe me some essence!

Yeah, it gets like that in enemy territory, it's a pain.
Murphy2005-05-08 22:07:31
yeh what the HELL is that about.
XP loss should be set at one level, enemy territory just doesn't make sense to cost more XP, at leeast you died while trying to fight or raid, rather than to some mob because you linked too many nodes

It's to discourage raiding. Same reason people conglutinate in their own city/commune.
Terenas2005-05-08 22:17:42
Since no one can offer any reasons as to why his corpse disappeared, I bugged it. And stop hijacking!

That's...dumb. Raiding CAN be RP. Don't code something to discourage things like that. That's one thing Lusternia needs to work on. There's entirely too much coding controlling certain aspects.

Randomly jumping people in the middle of the road can be perfectly good RP too, but it was causing far more grief than was justifiable, and so it was discouraged by the Avechna system.
Similarly, Magnagora was COMPLETELY STOMPING on Celest when fighting to the extent that on at least two occasions I remember there being no one who wasn't immortal (mobile or player) actually left alive in the city. Thus, this was coded to prevent the players of Celest getting completely PO'd and having to leave because there was nothing they could do.
Just because it's valid roleplay means very little. OOC consideration is more important. Why do you think the Avechna system exists? Are you going to say it shouldn't because killing people repeatedly CAN be valid RP? ("I'm going to get rid of him until Atropos finally decides to cut his cord!")

Woo Shiri. I concur.
