Thorgal wouldn't make a false log for an argument this stupid. You're thinking of someone like Ceres.

At least learn how to go about it in a more elegant and intelligent manner. Right now, your best effort sounds like something an elementary teacher would hear on the schoolyard.

It has to do with the fact that your staff damage > his sword damage in that he can't really block it because shielding is worthless, whereas you can parry/stance/rebound/etc. against a knight.

Geb here just doesn't seem to understand that, he keeps ignoring it, since it voids his points.

I ignore it, because it does not go to the main point. The main point being that an artifact should not increase a person's damage by 80-90%. If you feel that it should, then I can bust out my artifact, and cost 1600 credits mind you, and state that it should increase my damage by 160-200%.
If you want to talk about the lack in a warrior’s basic level of damage, then that is fine. A warrior without those runes is sorely lacking in offensive power (Mainly Serenguard Blademasters). That is a topic for another discussion though.
Shamarah2005-04-12 22:25:48
Raise physical damage.
Weaken elemental runes (make them 33%? 25%?).
Ta-da!
Anyway, sure, my staff does that damage, but you're an Aslaran and a Nihilist, and the only heat resistances Nihilists get is Draconis which I don't think is very good, and you have a level 2 fire weakness, and I have the champion staff, so you can hardly expect it not to hurt.
The argument that staff damage > weapon damage is just ridiculous because it's going to get through eventually and it's going to kill someone like me in two combos when it does. How can you say that 1500 damage out of 5000+ health is ridiculous and that 1700 damage out of 2500 isn't, even when it is blocked by rebounding/stance/parry (and the last two aren't really that great, especially if the opponent uses random hitting rather than strike)

Your ego is apparently so huge you couldn't even manage to bring yourself to stay in the DoK, no one even criticized you personally, not even me..you got some serious issues.

How does my ego come into not staying in the DOK? I gave that reason, because it was the most simple to understand without insulting people. The truth is, I got tired of hearing people talk negatively about others not in the group or not on at the time. I got tired of seeing the games being played with people who desired to join the group. It seemed rather childish, and did not meet the purpose I thought the group had. The simple fact of the matter is that I am far too old for the group. The juvenile antics got on my nerves, so I got out.
Thorgal2005-04-12 22:34:15
Ahah, so the difference between juvenile and mature, is mature people try to hide it when they stab someone in the back, and juvenile people don't.
If there is something that does NOT come with age...it's maturity.

Is it? If it is, then the Nihilists get no fire resistances (I think?) apart from frost/fireproof.

Stab someone in the back? You were not stabbed in the back; you were questioned on the voracity of your claims. Stab in the back means I did something to you in secret, that cause physical, mental, or emotional damage to you.

That is what I mean with your intellectual mastu*stion..talking a lot without saying anything. "Mature" people seem to transcend in it.
Back to topic, right now, knights need these elemental runes, or they're gimp, they might be too strong, but if you downgrade them, you'll need to upgrade their base damage.
As to mages, I think we can conclude that they're too powerful in whatever situation..where as warriors are not.

This isn't the wheel of fortune, If you're going to spell most of it, just say it.
Here I'll say it.
MASTURBATION
There, so stop with all the stupid little * marks, if a kid sees you type Mastu*tion he's still going to ask his mom or dad "Hey mom or day, what does that mean?" so why not at least show him how to properly spell it?

Do any of you remember back in the first months of the game when knights did about 400 damage per combo and the -exact- same complaints where being voiced by knights? Also remember back then that the highest level person was around 70, and the average level was around 40-50? And there was no such thing as an elemental rune or weapon with over 140 damage (thus no outliers) So what changed? The base knight damage was increased, a lot, and some physical defs got removed.
Look where that got knights... now that the average level is around 70 (for combatants) they are in the SAME boat, except now there are these crazy outliers because of awesome weapons and artifacts to make them even better.
The underlying problem was not corrected. Treating the symtom, not the disease some would say. What needs to be fixed is -not- giving knights a higher base damage. 1. All that does is fix the problem for a few months. 2. It doesn't account for the outliers. And 3. What about non-tanky people? They'll be killed even quicker than they are now (which is pretty friggin quick).
The answer lies in fixing the underlying problem. What is this mystical all important issue? you may ask. Well that's debatable, but I'll summarize some of the most notable suggestions (in no paticular order):
1. Knight wounds are too easy to cure
2. There is no reliable instakill for knights to use
3. Poisons are fairly useless
4. Critical/Heavy Knight wounds don't happen often enough
5. Knights do not have any 'locks'
6. Most of the knight wounds are not very good (as in they aren't crippling enough)
Note: I do not agree with some of these suggestions, in fact I think one of them is complete crap, but it was still suggested.
As for mages... well they have their own problems, and I'm not willing to write another one of these for them right now.

I'm a non-tanky people, but physical damage is less devastating than electrical damage, because I have resistances to physical damage (stoneskin, resilience, greatrobes, shield).
Whereas I have no resistances to electrical damage, except for elementshield.
Just downgrade elemental runes to 33%, or better yet remove them altogether and replace them with something else, and we'll be all good.

For fear of sounding like a mime, I'll just say that Thorgal's right. I agree with him on all points. Mages have UNBLOCKABLE damage. Shield shouldn't even factor in. In combat, no one stands by and shields the entire time. What's the point? Elemental runes are fine, as there are SO many ways to avoid being hit. Aura, shieldRiposte, stances, parry..not to mention our horrible accuracy. I have high to-hit weapons, combatstyle concentrated option, transed Combat and I miss like hell. In my opinion, that's how it's supposed to be in regards to the mass amount of damage we're able to dish out. Mages have a decent-to-powerful staff and are insane in their demesne. I'd really hate to see INT arties come here..
Unknown2005-04-13 00:16:59
That's just not true... we'll all not be good. What about Ialie? She'll still die to one pulp and the following combo to someone that has 170 damage flail or something. You can just keep fiddling around with Knight damage and expect it to fix the problem, they thought it did the first time, but the exact same problem came back.
I think I'll go invade Russia during the winter next...

And poisons aren't useless. I wouldn't want to see a 100% affliction rate. That's just asking for speed knights to return. They add a bit to a knight's offense, but you can't be completely reliant on them. That's fine.
