Hmm, I think there should be a limit as to how much you can do with your manse in terms of unique defense. Anything that an individual to do normally on the prime plane, I think would be great. Enchantable statues would be fantastic.
Guards, ejection and so on... it might be going a little too far.

But they cost so much, and no one ever -needs- to go through one.
I say let me defend the crap outta it.

Ejection would be awesome.
I'm so tempted to buy a manse. Granted, it'd be one room, but they're so neat, and I love the idea of owning my own bubble of aether to play with. Dunno what I'd do with it, but it'd be fun.

After being randomly killed a few times in my manse, I have to admit I would love an artifact or two.
Something that allows the aether environment of your manse to rip into anyone not on your fulcrux permissions list (like astral energy hits anyone who isn't high enough in planar) would be wonderful.
Imbalanced, but wonderful.

It costs 300k for the first room. Take that and put two rooms in Deepnight, like many others have. I charge 140k for a room, you can't even buy a box that cheap.

Unbalanced, yes, but like I said, no one ever needs to go in there. Fiery pits of doom are cool. If they don't like it, stay the hell outta my manse, aye?
Ialie2005-04-19 15:54:20
There should also be some sort of Benefit for having over five rooms. I mean a lot of time and effort went into this, we should atleast be able to rest easy from attacks there.
Unknown2005-04-19 16:17:11
Heh, nice 'edit'.
Richter2005-04-19 18:02:55
A guard for every five rooms? *halo*
Unknown2005-04-20 19:23:17
Have to agree with this one....having had a manse (for awhile *mutter***hole*) it was really annoying that there was nothing you could do to defend it...and some things have ZERO defense against.
Like bloody bedamned Moonbeam, or whatever it's called. I had monoliths to keep from being teleported to. No forest so I couldn't be flowed to. But how the **** do I stop them from moonbeaming in....you know a manse is supposed to be where you can have some privacy. Sometimes to sit and just talk...some folks have more fun than that *sparkle* But if you can't keep people out, then what's the point? Hundreds of thousands of gold wasted because you might as well put a "kick me" sign on any manse you own?

For now you can just move, Branwyn... you'll cut out the moonbeam.
The only real change manses need is the prevention of inter-manse teleport/flow/beam/hermit/etc. We have paintings for deliberate linkages between manses... cut out the teleport skills and let the paintings be useful.
However, I'd like to suggest one more manse artifact because I'm selfish:
Aether Nuts (10 credits).
- PLANT NUTS in a room of your manse.
- Will instantly grow into trees, producing a forest environment.
- Also opens the room to the sky.
The room could have an added line to let on that its forest, but maybe not. I ask because its going to cost me lots of power everytime my demesne is destroyed, and I believe we are the only classes which have multiple environment-dependent skills. No herbs will grow in the aetherways, of course.

I want a "Gallery" object, which allows you to exhibit multiple paintings in the room use used the object.
Oh, and the guards 'n stuff.

heck, if we're going this far...
Aether Dust (5 credits)
When you BLOW DUST in a manse room, the ceiling of the room will be dissolved, leaving it open to the sky.
Aether Drop (10 credits)
Depending on how you use it, these will create a puddle, a river, a lake, or a sea in your manse. All will allow aquamantic demesnes to be melded without requiring flooding, and all but the puddle will require one to swim between rooms.
SPRINKLE DROP - makes a puddle
SLIDE DROP - makes a flowing river
DRIP DROP - makes a standing lake
SPLASH DROP - makes a sea
Aether Nuts (10 credits)
Depending on how you use it, will create a natural aura, a garden, or a forest. All will allow you to meld a druidic demesne, and the aether garden and forest will create trees that you can climb in.
RUB NUTS - makes a natural aura
PLANT NUTS - makes a garden
GROW NUTS - makes a forest
Aether Stone (10 credits)
Depending on how you use it, will taint the aether around you or create a wasteland. Both will allow you to meld a geomantic demesne, but, hrm, wastelands aren't really any good. Upgrade wasteland plz.
CRUSH STONE - taints the aether
BURY STONE - creates a wasteland.
Miniature Barracks (750 credits)
ACTIVATE this miniature at your fulcrux to enable the placement of guards in your manse.
Additional commands:
MANSE SET GUARD SHORT_DESC A cute little bunny sits here.
MANSE EDIT GUARD LONG_DESC (Takes you into the editor)
MANSE EDIT GUARD INFO_HERE A cute little bunny.
MANSE SET GUARD ATTACK A cute little bunny suddenly jumps forward and bites at your neck.
MANSE ENABLE/DISABLE GUARD ROAMING
MANSE ENABLE/DISABLE GUARD OPEN_DOORS
Toy Soldier (50 credits)
PLACE SOLDIER will turn this soldier into a full-size guard. Requires a barracks miniature in your fulcrux. This guard will be loyal to you, but will not follow you at all. When slain, the guard will offer no experience, and will simply dissolve, then reform in your inventory as a toy soldier again, which can be replaced in your manse.

Great idea's... minus some small little problems. We've stated, NO mobs, and created the special aether terrian type because there will be NO changing of terrians.
Elryn2005-04-21 13:10:44
Ah, nuts. Well, no nuts, in this case.
Hajamin, may I ask why there will never be different terrains?

Hajamin2005-04-21 13:46:38
Simple, it just isn't worth the effort to go through everything(such as plant growth, and a million other things based off terrian) to change it so it doesn't work in the aetherways. Hence we gave you the Aether terrian type, so it is what ever you describe it to be.
Acrune2005-04-21 14:25:34
I love some of these ideas. For all the money that you pay to get a manse and build it up, you should definatly be able to do more with it. Too bad you can't have guards though, that'd be neat.
Unknown2005-04-21 23:52:02
Just make new terrains! Aetheric forest, aetheric sea, etc...
Pweeeeeease?
Pweeeeeease?
Richter2005-04-22 00:11:04
Elryn has been seeing how we need more manse protection, as have I. We've both been killed in our own homes. We badly need manse eject as a command, plus a few other things.
Elryn2005-04-22 00:14:37
No no, I only want teleportation between them stopped. Further defense would be fun, but not essential.
Different terrains... if only they were possible.
