Make it so that guards can capture people, not just kill them!
I guess... I don't really need to go into an explaination, it's fairly obvious. Just make it so that you can take a guard or two, and order them to capture (web/paralyze, etc) someone instead of being aggro against them.
More options are always better, even if they don't get used all the time.

I definitely like the idea of an enemy being captured. Not so much as webbing or paralysing the enemy, but holding them still and allowing members of the city/commune to get to the location. The more guards, the harder it'd be to get free. You'd probably have to writhe or something. Would be fun.
Daganev2005-04-12 17:25:05
there no way to regulate it to RP only, so it would be bad.
Unless you had some artificial time limit on when you can use guard.

I didn't say you'd need to have it be RP only, only that it was an option. Of course, in combat, I suppose you'd rather kill someone than keep them, but what about keeping someone out of the fight?
I sense jailbreaks!

Daganev2005-04-12 17:37:22
what about guarding someone and then having someone else come and kill them without any chance of them getting out?
Unknown2005-04-12 18:53:13
You could add a "no harm shall be done to the prisoners" clause and just disallow player attacks against people who have been captured. When they break free, you can chase them down and beat the daylights out of 'em then!
Terenas2005-04-12 18:57:03
Can we include torturing for info too? And whatever else people do with prisoners..

This is actually a really cool idea IMO. Capturing important people of the enemy city for whatever reason (ransom, negotiations) without having the caputred person being ganked.
Desdemona2005-04-12 20:19:53
Yeah, a prision within realms for every city would be great along with torture devices and the guards actually taking captives. Also, it would be even better if the prisons were upgradable to increase the difficulty of jailbreaks.
Richter2005-04-12 20:28:23
It makes it so that not everything is KEEL TEH ENEMIEZ!!.
Gwylifar2005-04-12 21:13:20
Jailbreaks have to be possible but not trivial. Right now, the ability to go anywhere you like far, far, far overpowers the ability to stop people from going anywhere they like. So any jail would involve crippling so many powers to be even vaguely challenging... it'd be a coding and design and balance nightmare.
Desdemona2005-04-12 21:21:51
Hm, did you play Achaea? I don't remember this occurance very well, but I think people like Carmell were held hostage in Mhaldor for quite a while, what was the technique applied to snatch Carmell? I don't know, but I am sure they kept her in check thanks to all the needed sigils, guards, and players guarding. It gave me the impression of being a very rustic and improvised jail... I think the room that was used was the Bank. But I could be wrong, though, wasn't very active at that time. Maybe someone could expand on this and correct me in what I posted.
Gwylifar2005-04-12 21:43:48
Me? Nope.
I signed up once long enough to get access to the PK rules because I was curious and wanted to see if they were any good. You're all laughing at that idea, but what you have to remember is, I came from Aetolia. Where the PK rules were "I wonder if we should have some PK rules. No, wait, Achaea has those, and we are not Achaea!"

You'd have to disable a LOT of stuff. And then make sure they can't just Heartstop out of it.

Um, why? In real war people do commit suicide you know.
Gwylifar2005-04-12 22:02:52
But they don't usually wake up in a safe place ten minutes later.
Erion2005-04-12 22:05:03
Maybe make it a city-leader only option, and they have to do something like CITY CAPTURE , so the guards will try to capture so and so, using disabling abilities. Otherwise they'd just kill. >.o

Yeah, no pk rules at all suck. I got on the other day, RPed my dwarf a bit drunkenly over shouts, and got death threats INSTANTLY. Even my GM passed a few to me from other people.
