Can anyone post a reasonably accurate guess of how effective resilience and magic are at reducing damage and shrugging venoms? And, how much Magic boosts magical damage?
....
Please? biggrin.gif

Are you sure Magic boosts damage, rather than just boosting defence?
Daganev2005-04-13 04:04:23
resillience ROCKS 1/3 vennom shrug I think.
Unknown2005-04-13 04:18:33
Nevermind what I said about Magic.
I thought it implied it in HELP MAGIC, but now I realise I think I was just reading too much into its description doh.gif
Unless someone has something to say otherwise... ?

As for Resilience - 1/3 venom shrug seems great, I'm assuming that is at Trans? What's it like at lower levels? And more importantly.. What's the damage reduction like? unsure.gif
Narsrim2005-04-13 04:19:52
Resilience provides a small reduction to physical damage and at transcedent, gives a 33% chance to shrug venoms. Magic drastically reduces magic attacks (only attacks that are DAMAGE SOURCE: MAGICAL) which does not include stuff like the Aqua Staff, Cudgel, etc. Both are rather effective and certainly worth the credits.

I thought resistances were based on the Damage Type, not Source?

For example, Cudgel is Magic Source, but 100% Cutting Damage Type.

So I would have thought Resilience would have boosted resistance to cudgel damage...?

That's correct. However, an Aquamancer Staff is Fire so nothing provides resistance to it, etc.

What is the title of this thread Daganev? Resilience/Magic. Do either of those give fire resistance? No. My statement was in context to the thread, obviously.

Doesn't 'Magic' cover elemental?

Sylphas2005-04-13 05:07:31

Agreed!

Trans Magic is 25% reduction..

On moonburst and cosmicfire.

Thorgal2005-04-13 10:23:30
It SHOULD be 25% reduction on magic, fire, cold and lightning, since it's 300 credits, but it isn't sad.gif.
Shamarah2005-04-13 10:24:53
Uh, no, not when us people who actually use fire have no other way to kill.
Thorgal2005-04-13 10:40:16
You have cold too..hailstorm is pretty damn heavy damage.

No, it should be a 15% reduction on all. The mini-skills in the other realms were a 15% damage reduction at transcendent (aka level 1 resistance). Here instead you just get a buffed version of constitution, and nothing to protect against elemental attacks.
Geb2005-04-13 12:35:31
I agree with Tuek on this. 15% across the board sounds equitable.
