I've resisted demesne summon with -2- anti-summoning defenses.
How would putting wisp on a timer make it any less powerful if its not stopped by a monolith or, at the very least, shielding?
Would the person be getting messages to tell them they're getting wisped? Will the wisp fail if the person leaves the room, or will moondancers have an extremely powerful, unstoppable area-wide summon?
You can't have your cake and eat it too, if you want an upgrade you have to suggest downgrades.

People resist wisp summon too.
And actually, I only have two summon defences too. Red, and rooting. (And rock, but I am not usually in mountains.)

If you put Rock up in the mountains, it stays up Shiri - thats been said numerous times.
Shiri2005-04-17 01:23:05
...no it hasn't.
But okay, fine, 3, even so.

Yes it has Shiri, just look at any post after that.
Shiri2005-04-17 01:27:58
Look at any post after what?
Silvanus2005-04-17 01:30:02
Anytime you've mentioned that you have 2 resistances. Anytime you have, Athana has posted after saying that Rock works while you are outside the mountains, as long as you put it up.

RED does, it's in lowmagic. It's debatable whether rock does or not, since no one has actually tested.
Silvanus2005-04-17 01:34:43
Thats what I meant.
Stupid R's.

Thorgal2005-04-17 09:47:52
Rock definately does work wherever you are, how else would a dwarf, even if he's enlarged, resist over 25 empresses in a row?
I can instantly empress a fully deffed up size 20 ur'guard, but empressing a serenwilder, even if it's a bloody faeling, takes me try after try after try, if it's anywhere bigger than size 10, I don't even bother trying at all, since it just wastes all my empresses.

It's been proven to fluctuate wildly, given that Silvanus summoned three of us second shot through WITH all three of those defences. And you have no idea how many times it takes people to wisp someone sometimes. (More often than not I get it first or second time though.)
Thorgal2005-04-17 11:51:28
Ya see, Tuek resists 25 times and more in a row not just sometimes, he resists them ALWAYS, I've NEVER been able to empress Tuek even just a single time, and hell knows I tried. He doesn't even have to bloody reject me, since he knows I can never empress him.

Actually, you succeeded once. And I remember those long sets of summoning, I couldn't figure out what was doing it, since it gave a very generic message. However, all those times, I happened to be standing in the mountains.. so..
Thorgal2005-04-17 11:58:22
No you weren't...you were standing in the forest everytime I sensed you while I was empressing.

Uh.. no dude. I was running from Angkrag, then spored to Rockholm, then was running down to the Shrine of Klangratch. Every time you've had me empressed was due to me raiding Angkrag, and I never go to Serenwilde directly after Angkrag. Let's not forget, that you CAN'T summon people out of the forest anyway, just like you can't summon out of cities. Whenever someone tries to summon me while I'm in the forest, I let them, since the "magical defenses of Serenwilde" hurl me back anyway.
Shiri2005-04-17 12:04:17
That'll be his problem, heh. Mistakes "the forces of Serenwilde stop you summoning him" for "he resists it!"
Thorgal2005-04-17 12:08:59
Shiri, didn't you read it? He was in the mountains..not in the forest, so the defences can't stop the summoning. But regardless of the highly doubtable Rock only working in the mountains, it's still a fact that I can almost instantly empress anyone but serenwilders. Empress shouldn't even be resistable at all, cause of the requirements and ease to prevent it, just reject me, shield, or stand on a monolith..

But you just said I was in the forest and NOT the mountains when I originally said I was in the mountains?

Sitting on a monolith doesn't, apparently, work. We dropped a lith when we were wisping yesterday, and on more than one occasion they were just empress'd right back.
And why is it highly doubtable that it only works in mountains, Thorgal? It's only bondable there. And let's take a look at the rest of totems which has situational limitations.
Night - Only hides at night.
Sun - Only regens during day.
Moon - Only regens during night.
Tree - Only regens...by...Mother. (Woo.)
River - Only regens in freshwater. And I THINK not lakes, or I haven't damn well noticed it in the Water Plane lake.
Seems pretty obvious rock would only work in the mountains.

Okay, -maybe- I was wrong about Rock, but it's still lame they resist my empress indefinately, I'd waste 50 empresses and not one of them would go through.
And monolith stops empress just like it stops wisp, except unlike with wisp, shield stops empress as well, next to just rejecting.
