That's totally not how I imagined Dracnari to look, but now I've seen the picture, I'm readjusting my mental image... that's really cool! Damnit... now I want to be a Dracnari Pyromancer...

Fine, as long as I can use a shield without cutting my only offensive ability in half.

After like 10 years of planning, DR just recently released wearable shields. So you could have a shield, but still have both hands free for whatever.
The Gods here, however, don't take 10 years to make a release, so possibly they could look into it. =D

I suggested it in the Artifacts thread, actually.

Ah, another act worthy of song, Soll shall be changing sex in order to fit the artwork better.

A crazy idea I had yesterday, whilst thumbing through a Culture novel - it'd be nice if there was an androgynous race. None of the IRE muds have a "neither" or "both" race. Or, if its too difficult to code in "neither" as a sex, having the ability to slowly change from male to female over time. Then I could be a completely evil bastard and become female over a few months, have a few kids, then become male again after they left home. Imagine how bloodlining would look!
Gwylifar2005-04-15 03:19:25
There's a non-player race in Aetolia that's a 'neither' race, the wolfine that act as guards and soldiers for Duiran. But that doesn't really count (though they'd make a cool player race there, actually).

Oh. Well I take it back then.
Karrah2005-04-15 05:23:46
Now if there where only more Dracnari women...
Falasin2005-04-15 05:35:41
Yea, there's just Nepthy and... Nepthysia, and Nep.
Karrah2005-04-15 07:57:28
Nepthysia is viscanti.

There's Aesyra who's a female Dracnari, but I think you'll find she's taken I think Shinza was as well last time I saw... though she was thinking of reincarnating again...
Karrah2005-04-15 08:50:18
exactly.

Want to wear an extra shield? Grow an extra arm. That's the only think I would see to be justified in any game.
And regarding the dracnari, well, she looks lizard enough for me, I though she would be more serpent-like, like those race in the D&D that I don't remember now.

Daamn. Sexy. I'd go straight for her, too.

Possibly lizardmen?

Well, if you want to argue history or realism, people used a sword and shield, not two swords, for a lot of good reasons. But curing is too easy in an IRE game. Thus, if a sword did a proper amount of damage, everyone would still use two swords, which would be too powerful. So they halve the damage a sword does, and it all comes out even, except we now lose the benefit of a shield. So they make it so no one else can wear good armor, and it all comes out even, finally. It all comes from the fact that a little potion can heal you in Lusternia, while in the real world, even a small cut on the battlefield was probably fatal -- not during the fight, but within the following week, which is when the vast majority of medieval combat fatalities happened, due to infection.

In... say... Diablo2, shields were often too powerful to ignore. They gave you vital blocking and certain magical resistances as well as a few other nice abilities. But then most people went sword/shield there. It's always difficult to strike the balance in a gmae of getting a fair community of sword/sword and sword/shield folks. It'd mean totally redesigning certain guilds to get that to happen anyway... and that's not so important.
What I would like to see is MORE specalisations come Hallfiax and Gaudiguch. Let us have more weapon types! Dracnari specialising in spears and poleaxes. Definately would be extremely cool...
