Speaking of Gwyllgi...
Wrapped in shrouds of darkness, this giant hound looms like a monster from a
nightmare, sharp canine teeth gleaming out of the permanent shadow surrounding
him. Midnight black fur bristles all over his body, with not a patch of colour
to relieve the unbroken darkness, save for the sheen of light on the glossy fur
as it ripples over his powerful muscles. His eyes hold no trace of light, the
pure black of the orbs sucking in the light around them so that you are unsure
whether you are seeing eyes at all, or simply the absence of any substance
where they should be. A low, rumbling growl resonates out from his throat at
all times, echoing in the empty air with odd reverberations, as if coming from
many mouths at once. A disturbing intelligence is evident from the cock of the
dog's head, his ears tracking the movements of those around it, his dark gaze
occasionally turning to stare at something far off.
Does that line irk anyone else? I'm unsure of his eyes, yet I'm able to discern that his eyes are sucking in the light... but they're so black I can't see them anyway?

You forgot to bold the rest of the sentance that makes it make sense
Just as you can recognize a black hole by your lack of abilitiy to see it.

Well, the whole sentence isn't something I like.
It's still saying that I can't see the eyes, yet I can see the eyes, yet I don't know if the eyes are there or not... but they're sucking in the light. The fact that light is used twice in the same sentence isn't something to be proud of either.
I like the doggy, but.. that sentence should be fixed.

Where does it say you can see the eyes?
The black hole holds no trace of light, the pure black of the center sucking in the light around them so that you are unsure whether you are seeing anything at all, or simply the absence of any substance
where they should be.

The fact that they're described shows that I can see them in one way or another. Not to say it shouldn't have eyes, but still.
Daganev2005-04-15 09:02:42
No, the fact that they are described means its a notable aspect of the creature. I think you would notice if the spot a creature eye's should be were nothing but black holes.
Sylphas2005-04-15 09:04:08
Ishimoru was binding fae, from what I hear.
Unknown2005-04-15 09:06:39
I doubt it. It's just a mass of black fur aside from the teeth. I'd probably think about its eyes if I weren't scared of a giant, talking, shadowy mass of fur first. If it weren't for the occasional gloss of fur I doubt it'd be too visible depending on the Ethereal Glomdoring's stance (And since Mother Night is its major aspect I'd say it'd be pretty dark).
Either way, light used twice = no no. It loses creativity and critical readers (As if we have many) would catch it. I guess I'm just anal about writing.

And thats wrong why?
Only serenwilde is allowed to bind un bound fae? Its not like the fae were being stolen from serenwilde.

Daganev2005-04-15 09:08:15
meh,.. ninjaed... Your changing your argument. The use of the word light twice, could be done better, but its not contraditory or anything else you implied earlier.
Sylphas2005-04-15 09:09:14
OOC, I agree with you complete Daganev. IC, Sylphas wants to slaughter any non-Seren who sets foot on Ethereal right now.

I edited my above post, which does mention the usage of the word twice. And it issssss.. somewhat. It's just awkward in my mind, I guess. The hound is already dark as midnight, save for the occasional sheen the fur might show. If it's eyes weren't mentioned I think under the circumstances I'd just overlook it and be equally freaked out the same.
I'm just bothered by the choice of phrase, I guess.
His eyes hold no trace of light = They're completely black
The pure black orbs ... = So I'm unsure that I'm not sure that his eyes exist despite them blending in with his completely black pelt.
In this sense the only way the eyes are seen is because they're sucking up the light around them (Which shouldn't exactly exist, though I guess I'm not giving the Sun spirit enough credit).
This isn't even worth arguing about. It's just late here and I'm pointing out random stuff. Don't mind me anymore.
I guess I was Desdemona for an hour. *has bonded with Daganev*

DOH!
You greet Gwyllgi, the Dog of Darkness with a sincere smile.
Gwyllgi, the Dog of Darkness exclaims, "You are Night's enemy!"
3579h, 3611m, 2918e, 10p exkd-
Gwyllgi, the Dog of Darkness opens his mouth and a terrible shriek issues forth
from his throat, causing painful reverberations in your mind.
997h, 3611m, 2918e, 10p xkd-sip health
Notice the equilibrium steal on that attack. Heh.
I didn't even mean to get enemied anyway. And no, this pre-whine is pointless, since I have no intention whatsoever to kill the Glomdoring Avatars, and actually have 75k ready for the main Avatar when He/She/It appears.

But excuse me, who are you? I was there the whole time and did not see you.
Daganev2005-04-15 09:53:28
you forgot to mention that your fae puts it to sleep
Daganev2005-04-15 09:54:00
Ack is the Morrigana charachter, you know, the one with only 600 health.

Oh right the newbie enemy who was tagging along. Actually she wasn't on the list as part of the agreement so she was fair game, especially when it's off-prime.
Daganev2005-04-15 10:03:22
I don't know who came up with the list idea, but it sounded pretty stupid to me.

Is that her name? Gwyllgi?
What she look like? Wanna paste her desc? I can't be bothered to tramp around Glomdoring.

An angry black dog, more or less .
Akraasiel2005-04-15 10:23:08
Wellp, for a while you could bind fae from faethorn naturally, but it seems the divine want the Glomdoringers to get butchered by Tuek&Co so they changed it to having to kill the fae now to bind them. Meh. I!=pleased.
