I thought the human male would win the poll, but in the end yet another female pulled ahead. Behold the female furrikin! I hope she doesn't disappoint those of you who wanted more "non-human" depictions, but I think she is an awesome bundle of squirrel power. Upon a branch with the muscles of her little squirrel legs coiled, she is ready to spring to the defense of her forest! That leather vest looks a little uncomfortable though...

Uhm..

A little different from what I expected.

And I think Lisaera was frighteningly accurate in her description of fantasy artists.

Holy banana. That leather does look uncomfortable, and Lisaera's description was very accurate. fear.gif

I suppose those straps make breastfeeding easier if one has to be ready to spring to the defence of the forest again. This way, the armor doesn't have to be removed and donned again, this saves valuable time in the fights against the enemies of the forest.

My respect for Kidaen grows daily. wub.gif

Mine too.

Talk about squirrel power!
Shoshana2005-04-15 15:04:48
*peer* That's not even a furry... That's a girl with red hair and a squirrel tail and kinda furry legs... Looks more like a rogue than any of Lusternia's classes as well
Unknown2005-04-15 15:07:10
I would say she is a serenguard, the fact that she is not wearing bulky armour is very understandable, after all, could you imagine climbing a tree in fullplate?
Thorgal2005-04-15 15:17:47
Don't heed the words of these infidels, it rocks!

Interesting. But I like this one more:

I think we can now safely assume that the races of Lusternia (or at least the artist's vision) possess more human features then their "other half".
Thorgal2005-04-15 15:22:17
Uhh, that's just a rabbit with glasses..
Unknown2005-04-15 15:38:24
...what kind of a warrior is she? She has only one sword! And she's wearing leather...

Tsk tsk... must be a poor novice.

Then again... knowing how furrikin warriors don't really work that well... I don't think you'd see many furrikin warriors.

And yes! It's a rabbit with glasses. Except it stands on two legs and is unusually large. I actually like that sketch a lot... then again, I suppose we need breasts as a focus point. Otherwise, how would we know who was a man and who was a woman? Why, with all the men who look like women...

And I doubt furrikin take to being lifted off the ground upside down to be checked for gender...

Heh heh, I like this one as well. I think some of us have turned back into giggling teenagers while looking at his pictures.

Wait. Most people here -are- giggling teenagers. *twiddle*

Looks great, I wonder which one is next!
Rhysus2005-04-15 15:53:21
Eh.

The art is obviously very good. I'm just disappointed in the artist's reliance on traditional forms. I mean, all of the races so far have been pretty interchangeable in appearance. They're all just humans with some slight modifications to tip you off that they're actually not humans, but something remarkably human like...with a big tail. I couldn't do better, never going to claim to come close. But these things are shattering some of the mental images that I built up about Lusternia's races, and I liked those a lot better.

that's sweet! I can't wait to see the Loboshigaru!
Unknown2005-04-15 16:03:29
Yeah, I agree. The artwork is great, but it's faaaar too humanoid for my tastes. I seriously thought that the furrikin had much more squirrel/bandger/bunny-like faces...

Apart from the far-too-humanoid face and oversized mammaries, that's kinda how I imagined it. Except with a bit more fur.

What a surprising turn of events. I was actually expecting to see the HUMAN winning. I am glad I was wrong.

Nice picture, by the way. Now, that kind of furrikin isn't the type of furrikin I would be making fun of.

At the moment, for me the best picture is the Viscanti, followed by the Dracnari, and closely following the Furrikin, in last place stands the Mugwump.

Hmm, the squirrel clearly must have human heritage, though it is kind of hard to picture a human with a squirrel...

If you think these pics are too human, upon looking at the others it seems to me that you guys just keep voting for the ones that are were drawn the most human-like. There are others that do diverge quite a bit from the human form, and some that still retain many human qualities but are more animalistic than some of the last few that won in the polls.
