That reminds me of the movie Hocus Pocus for some reason...
When Winifred and her sisters turned Thackery, or was it Zachery, into a cat.

To add on to my previous post, we also end up getting sidetracked a LOT on unrelated coding priorities that crop up... like having to drop everything to brainstorm, design and code a way to prevent one person the capability to solo a night avatar (with or without a squad).

Ban Tuek, Narsrim, and delete the Dwarven race.
Tada

have the Avatars/Supernals/Demon Lords trace long-distance magics?

I'm quite glad for the lulls - to my overwhelming surprise, the Court and Coven have actually started working together, and we've started to come up with a series of liturgies to Night, etc.

Actually, my poor Summer Court as I envisioned it is no more. What's left with the same name is basically the Night Coven II.

-Your- Summer Court?!
Psh! That Summer Court was gone a long time ago, you just never noticed.
Unknown2005-04-16 08:12:05
Jolly gee, I know in another thread Tuek and Narsrim swore the nymph doesn't work on demon lords and the like. Are you telling me they said something that was not right?
Elryn2005-04-16 08:12:23
Meh, our Summer Court then. Elryn was the major financial backer .
I still wish they had just joined Erion's group, rather than making a redundant organization. Would have been more fun to have the conflict, but ah well. Can't expect people to work icly for something we all know is just for show.

I do agree with the huge amount of work being fizzled in 2 minutes of work. When the Sea quests comes along with Marilynth/Ladantine... all it takes is to jump in and ping kill Ladantine which pretty much stalls the whole quest for ages. Raising Crow, it takes a huge amount of effort, but it takes a moderately tanky person a few moments to kill off Brennan and error please redo from start. Lots of work vanishing in seconds because of one person.
The only difference with Ladantine of course, is that the Magnagorans made pretty good attempts to guard him so that he doesn't die. Sometimes we broke it, sometimes we didn't. Either way, Glomdoring doesn't have any of that. They can't defend the Avatars because they can't enter the plane most of the time, when they can they are killed instantly, and also they're fighting under levelled and skillless against tried and tested fighters. Yea...
Give the Glom folks a little more chance eh? ^^

QUOTE(Estarra @ Apr 16 2005, 01:28 PM)
This is really a no-win scenario for the administration. If we try to plan out and design everything before an event takes place, this means that you would be waiting several weeks (or months) before we would even start an event (in which case you would be bitching about how "nothing is happening"). If we try to ride the wave of actual player RP and design and plan as we go along, there is no avoiding that there will be gaps of time between the "action". Even something that may seem to you to be an easy jump to the next stage may in actually take hours and hours of work behind the scenes. There is absolutely no way to avoid this. Other things to consider is that we do like to span events through different time zones. We don't like events to cater just to one individual or small group of individuals. We do prefer to have as many people as possible to have a chance to get involved. It is simply unavoidable that the pacing will ebb and flow. If we did happen to stack an event so that there was non-stop action, I assure you that the majority would not enjoy it (been there, done that). Anyway, IC try to enjoy the lulls to catch your breath and OOC try to understand that the admin actually doesn't have magical powers where we can snap our fingers and have coding and scripts magically appear. If only that were true!
99355
When I was playing UO, there was a lantern in the Britain thrown room, which was unlit when there was no event coming, but was lit when there would be an event within the next 12 hours or so. It was simply enough, but it was effective to let everyone know an event was coming up. This could stop people from staying up 30-40 (?) hours, waiting for something, only to miss it when they sleep, or to be too tired to really enjoy and take part in the event when it does happen.
Maybe you guys could put a candle at Avechna's Peak, just to let people know if something is coming or not?

What annoys me most, is that Tuek actually believes he has the weakest class of the game...objectivity seems something completely alien to him. Tuek, you have the strongest class overall in the game, some classes may have better direct offense, but none surpass a moondancer's healing, while still having very good offense.
No one that can kill them, no one they can't kill, no mob they can't beat, no situation they can't escape from, no place they can't get in, and still you're underpowered?

It does beg the question, that if they are so weak, why doesn't he leave? Give Narsrim the Champion artifact and go give the Hartstone the champion that they need.

Tuek is always claiming that he could do the things he does easier were he an ur'guard.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Daevos.
He's a higher level than Tuek.
He has putrefaction.
He has fullplate.
He has surge.
He has all those other wonderful knight tankiness skills.
Ladies and gentlemen, despite the above, can he come even remotely close to killing an avatar/supernal/demon lord?
No.

Does Daevos die to the Supernals immediately? Nope. Instead, all the other newbies he likes to bring with him die instantly, and the Celestians go, "Oh no! A raid!" and come to defend. Then he dies to either the Celestians, or the Supernals beating on him with the Celestians combined.
Thorgal2005-04-16 12:04:25
False, he often went to fight Raziela, Japhiel and others on his own, to see what their attacks did, afflictions, damage, speed, but he never was able to tank them more than a few rounds, whatever he tried: he could not even remotely come close to killing them on his own.
And you really aren't such a genius that only you know the right strategies to fight supernals and demon lords, you can't blame everything on your own superiority and others' stupidity.

Incidentally, nymphs don't work on demon lords/supernals, we saw that in a log. It's like with guards, they just instantly re-attack. It was only on these Avatar people that it actually slowed them down.
And people can be part of guilds for something called "RP" rather than combat skill, y'know.
And I won't even START on Thorgal's objectivity compared to Tuek's here.

In just another thread, you were agreeing with Amaru's statement that Moondancers were slightly less powerful then Nihilists and Celestines.

..........................................................................What a judge of a weak class. I know when priests disappeared numerous people would have given one of their testicles to be a priest. Priests were good. In my mind, that kinda smacked the validity of you saying you're a member of one of the weakest classes.

Aetolia Priests lacked Bedevil, Cleansing, Redemption, Bloodbond (or whatever it was), diagnosing took equilibrium (unlike the other two realms), couldn't cure everything with healing, Imperian Clerics restored mana with each sap (probably Achaea too) etc, etc.
When compared to their Achaean and Imperian counterparts, they were far behind. Not to mention the Imperian ones can now smite/sap, smite/sear, smite/hands, and much more.
Luminaries were far better then Priests, they kept the defensive power (and more), but gained a truly powerful offense. No one really wanted to be an Aetolian Priest if they knew what they were talking about, it is just nice being a dead class. The only person who wanted access to Priests was Spirokai, so he could whore out some farhealing, that was it.
They wanted to be a Priest because it was something unique. A dead class, one of a kind, a novelty.
