Sorry, but starcraft can't compare to the AoE and AoM series for the level of strategy and micro-management involved. AoE and AoM have so much more finesse then Starcraft. Those are REAL strategy games.
Though, Civilization 2 was the best of all time...

Yes, to bad it lacked multiplayer... but I could play it for hours against the computer.
They did release a Gold edition, that had some sort of multiplayer tagged on, like by email or something... but it's definitely the sort of game you'd play someone over the course of a week or two.
