They are trying to pass a law that will make it illegal to have an abortion if your child is found to posses the 'gay' gene.

Its being proposed by the same person who proposed the gay marriage act.

That doesn't make sense. Of course, I try hard not to pay attention to anything political and gay-related, because it sends me into fits of frustration.

The study I saw that pointed to a homosexual gene went like this: Identical twins (thus having identical genes) seperated at birth and raised in different families were tracked. If one twin was homosexual there was a 50% the other would be. Because the rate of homosexuality in the general population is far lower than 50%, there's an apparent genetic link. Of course, that's only a 50% chance, not 100%. Nuture still plays into it, and one can be homosexual without the gene or genes that came up in this study. I think a lot of people try to classify it as either a strictly genetic/"how god made me" thing or a strictly nuture thing in order to advance whatever agenda they have on the subject. All the evidence I've seen points to a mix of the two, and it will certainly not be the same mix for each person.

The GMA in the state this guy is doing this in was PRO gay marriage. Its either vermont or Maine, I can't exactly remember. The daily show did a thing on it, and I later looked it up and saw it was real.

There are three ways to look at it.
1. He's really really evil and thinks if he proposes the bill, he can word it badly enough that nobody would think its a good idea, and thus when it goes to popular vote, it would be political suicide to pick it up again.

2.He has a split constiuancy, so he gets the liberal votes for proposing the bill and the conservative votes for fighting against it.

3.He may not agree with it, but he thinks it's something that should be debated.


Also, the thing with not having abortions with people who have gay genes is a very good method to test the limits of the law, and the desires of the people. It brings up issues of choice, discrimination, gene modifying, and creates an issue that would make both liberals and conservatives question if they want such a law.
