I enjoy the Stephen King's Dark Tower references as well. The lobstrosities in particular, but there are quite a few others that are more subtle.

OK and now for the anecdote of the century, when I was helping out at a local primary school, kids were talking about monsters and things that live under their bed, and it came to this one little girl who said "There aren't any under mine, my Cthulu eats them all" and proudly shows us her plush Cthulu...I was so proud
