QUOTE(Thorgal @ Apr 22 2005, 12:13 AM)
So you don't want them to give any afflictions, but you also don't want them to do enough damage to kill you?
104667

Are you serious? I'm one of the tankiest of persons and I have to bolt from Daevos after he gets in a few successive combos because the damage is so high. It isn't possible to apply health to cure the wounds because if I stop sipping, I'm dead. On top of doing this massive damage, crazy wounds... and I also do get afflictions from time to time that are hidden which I have to diagnose to see.

QUOTE(Narsrim)
I think people need to get over this whole speed knight garbage. They are inferior to strong hitting, heavy damaging bonecrushers. This was intentional - Roark has already said so (or alluded to the fact) in several posts.

Why do you people, knowing that rapiers < other weapons still go with them... and then complain.

Because the afflictions shouldn't be as MUCH inferior as they are. I mean, it says Aslaran excel at physical professions, so they should have SOME sort of advantage there.
It's like, every race and class should have a pretty good chance. But rapiers hardly have much of one.

Wrong. Every combination does not have a good chance. There are lots of people who think that Lucidian mages/magic users should have a decent chance except they get owned hardcore because they take like 50% more damage from blunt weapons... and when you get to being around Murphy damage, they fall 5x faster than a Faeling.

With that said, Aslaran's _CAN_ be very good... Murphy was good as an Aslaran. He just used flails/maces instead of hammers.

Exactly, but not a single of his afflictions are dangerous, now if you didn't have to bolt from him, how the hell would he be able to kill you at all?

That's why my suggestion is, if their damage is too high for you, lower it and increase their affliction prowess, otherwise leave it as it is.

Passive afflicting (contagnation) + Huge amounts of damage + Wounds + some afflictions = nasty. I honestly don't think Daevos's damage is too terrible because it doesn't carry with it uber stun.

Bonecrushers, on the other hand, are far better... and in my opinion, too good. Let's make elemental runes 50% for blademasters (as is) and 25% for bonecrushers...
Thorgal2005-04-22 04:29:40
Dude, I take 700-900 damage per blow, so 1400-1800 damage per round, I have 3000 health, I sip for 400, and even I can deal with it. It's just too easy parrying, interrupting, hindering, dodging and riposting it. Marsu can bring me down from 2700 down to 300 in a single move, and I still beat him.

I take more... far more. On top of that, you are a shackles/hangedman whore. With the right demon combinations, you should be able to slow him down far easier than I can.
Thorgal2005-04-22 04:31:53
You do NOT take more than 700-900 damage per blow.

I still beat Daevos in our last FFA. This is really not the point.

My point: Being able to kill 75% of the general population in one attack is wrong. This doesn't include me smile.gif

Actually, I do. I have no tower shield or great robes (they aren't enchanted at the moment). My only defenses are aura, barkskin, and drawdown + racial.
Thorgal2005-04-22 04:33:53
You can do the same, with just whoring lash while your fae are on your target, you can toadcurse 75% of the general population.

104683

Actually, no. I can toad curse 75% of the general population of Viscanti only because they have a sipping penalty. Icarus was 100x harder to fight than Daevos because he healed his mana as fast as I could drain it. The only reason I beat him (the FFA was Icarus, Daevos, me) was because stupidity stuck for 3 rounds.

And even still, I had to dig into my bag of tricks to kill Daevos. The toad curse that went through was dumb luck. He was less than 1 second away from sipping mana which would have put his mana back above half. On top of that, I had to draw him into water because I didn't have an icewall enchantment... I just got lucky, truly.

No seriously Shiri, think about it. They have a level 3 penalty to blunt damage. I don't care if they gain +5 more con, they are still going to be utterly utterly utterly terrible. Most mobs even hit with blunt damage. They cannot even bash!

Here's how much chance knight venoms have to be delivered on someone with trans resilience, barbedtail sting has a base 100% success rate, but resilience shrugs it. Venoms have a base 50% success rate, resilience also shrugs it, so you can compare.

For a perfectly accurate picture I'd have to sting 500 times, but I don't feel like it, this gives a decent enough example.

And Narsrim's right about lucidians, they won't stand any chance against bonecrushers whatsoever, but they'll probably become pretty good specialized if they just don't fight them.

104607

No, it's not. A 25% chance.

One venom goes through every 6 swings for me, on average.

That's one every 12 seconds.
Geb2005-04-22 14:15:02
You also have wound afflictions going in too. Normally after two hits, I am forced to cure my wounds or cure my health. I let wounds go, and I will find my butt stunned and winded (Bonecrusher that is. Blademasters do need some better afflictions). Also, take into account that not everyone has transcendent resilience, so you are judging your affliction rate based solely on a small portion of the population.
Nayl2005-04-22 14:16:52
Notably, the major portion of major fighters, but in any case, true.
I find bonecrushers to be a toss-up of health or wounds.
Blade's, just parry head/gut, and heal occasionally
Murphy2005-04-22 14:43:10
Narsrim you need to clarify a point for me, not being an ass but it comes across like if you are rediculously tanky, and can heal wounds, then a knight should never be able to kill you? with rebounding, parry (which you dont use all that much nars) stances and webbing etc, it already closes down our offense more than anyone elses.

I have troble with lazul because he has 8k health, and I have no other way to kill him....

dont mean to pick but you need to clarify, if we dont deal insane damage, how are we supposed to kill you 1v1 with you sipping/sparkle for 1500?

you told me as an aslaran i stacked 0 damage on you....and that i was much better as a dracnari/viscanti......

I changed back because I was much less effective as an aslaran, as damage is way better than speed

EDIT: and i don't do 50% wounds damage in a single crush, thats redicoulous and a massive over exxageration...It takes me 3 crushes to get someones head to critical, and thats when they have a helm on.

50% wounds per crush and I'd bashbrain you in 4 hits to the head
