Celestian Mages also seem to have issues with commands such as

Flood when we enter the room
Demesne summon anyone who enters the demesne.

Hey, I did that when I was influencing and without anyone telling me to. nyah.gif

I also hailstormed a bunch of Celestians, but that's another story...
Sylphas2005-04-25 19:09:07
Yeah, you need better mages, if they don't even do that when specifically told to.
Unknown2005-04-25 19:18:54
A major problem with the aquamancers is the demesne, and getting rid of it yes. But there are other factors that don't make it nearly that easy Amaru.

For one, there should be 3 guys taking care of a demesne. 1st, not even an aquamancer, to realitycheck it. 2nd, the guy to flood the room. Finally the third guy to meld it.

The problem with delport was (in regards to Aquamancers and flooding), no one had a clear idea of what they were in particular to do. I was flooding, but kept on getting problems due to the illusionary terrain, and it takes a good few seconds to recover from a realitycheck, in which case I'm stunned, on the ground, or dead.

Another problem with the flooding thing is, you can't always flood the room, due to adjacent room demesnes. I'm sure you understand this and maybe aren't taking it completely into consideration though, but a lot of people just don't seem to understand that either. And after failing a flood, you still have to recover from it.

The problem also lies that many Aquamancer mages that are any good, are influencing, those that aren't that even have flood, aren't generally tanky enough to deal with demesne effects like earthquakes.

I'm going to say that I, at least for myself, probably wasn't completely at fault since I still had to type out full commands, as like I've mentioned in a few other cases, I hadn't started to script for this mud until a short while ago. And with the humongous blocks of texts that I have to deal with, and the speed with which I need to be responsive, I'm either screwing up the syntax or coming out with it just too late. I'm not going to get into it any further than that, nor share my feelings on the issue at this point. I can only say that I'm going to be working on it, so hopefully the next time delport opens up, I can be useful, rather than just a diversion for Magnagorans to kill instead of the guys who actually do much of anything.

Speaking of which, thanks to the persons that debated me rather than Kelly in Stewartsville, saved on her potions and time, and I don't have any city influencing skills to have been of any help in that case. wink.gif

And Magnagora: You have such useful portraits. They lead to unguarded places too. If it weren't for that, we wouldn't have been able to get someone in to disenchant the monolith sigils that were sitting in the room preventing people from coming and going as large groups camped outside of sanctuary. Kudos wink.gif

Yea... the Celestian Mages never seem to want to do what you tell them... that's true. Far too disobedient.

Mag's strategy of killing people to say "We'll hurt you if you don't join us." works to some extent. I can understand it. Their help file says they prefer brains over brawn though, so I'd personally prefer to see more of the brainwashing attempts instead. That's just my thought.
Murphy2005-04-26 13:52:11
You need to smack your mages in line amaru, and get them to respond to simple commands.
Amaru2005-04-26 15:47:41
The best I can do is order one guy to realitycheck, one guy to flood and the other guy to meld when we enter a room, making sure they're ready by saying things such as 'Ready? 'Moving now...' as if I'm speaking to a little kid.

I did that, it never worked.

The rest isn't my fault, it's the troops being disobedient, afk or stupid.
Iridiel2005-04-26 15:54:56
Of course, if you talk to them like that and they know your opinions they must be running to work under your orders.
Maybe you should have a meeting with Vesar so he trains his guild into proper influencing methods. They probably will pay more attention to somebody who doesn't think of them as idiots.
Amaru2005-04-26 15:59:17
No, because most of us realise they were #2 to some degree.
Murphy2005-04-26 16:14:12
get them to reflex you saying taint and meld to the appropriate actions, and then getting them to nod on return of EQ
Amaru2005-04-26 16:22:40
I'd guess about 10% of Celestians would know how to do that.

You have to realize it's not as simple for some people to code as others. I tried for close to 3 RL months in Achaea to help my guild develop some basic triggers, we had a list for triggers for Zmud, Java, Mushclient that all people had to do were copy and paste and yet there was always someone (more often multiple people) that couldn't get them right.
Revan2005-04-26 20:55:38
Or get a competent leader in your mage guild (which should be the champion) to direct the mages so your non-mages don't have to worry. It usually works for us about 80% of the time. The only problems we run into are finding demesne edges sometimes. Otherwise, we're pretty efficient at breaking demesnes.

Then you need to give them the lines to do it in zmud.

I know that Ravin developed some simple say-excecute triggers for the geos, now they are defunct though.

You just gotta teach them one on one, and if you have any decent fighters they should know how to code somewhat in zmud, either way its doable.

The issue of celest having a lack of decent aquamancers is another can of worms altogether
Athana2005-04-27 01:36:19
they have Geb and Shamarah..and..Geb..hmm
Shiri2005-04-27 01:40:25
Yeah, we stole Terenas. wink.gif
Revan2005-04-27 01:59:55
Not really a problem since Geb's pretty much a one-man-army. If it's just Shamarah, though... he's good enough to pick off people one by one, but I don't think he can handle multiple people hitting him. The other Aqua's aren't notable.. I just pick em off if I see an aquamancer in my demesne while influencing.
Iridiel2005-04-27 13:34:09
You shouldn't be hurting your former guildmates, evil mean you tsk tsk. That's what magnagora made of you tongue.gif

KIDDING!!
Malicia2005-04-27 13:52:34
Hmm, Vesar, Rhysus, Geb, Shamarah, Kaileigh and Trysalis are all I can think of. If all of them were on when a village revolted....

Although, Geb and Lazul took on a team of Mags in a demesne during a recent Celest vs Mag FFA. Anything's possible with teamwork! cool.gif
