Although I think the Shadowlords are a bit too good... I'll have to say giving it to both communes doesn't make sense. At all. Night bonded with the fae, it just happened to be faeling, not brownie, not leprechaun, not pooka... I honestly do not want to ever think of Rowena raping a pooka... Giving it to Seren as well as Glom would give Serenwilde 2 specialization races, in case you haven't noticed, Laysus. Original faelings are naturally weak, but fast. That doesn't make them substandard, just untanky, cos they're... well... tiny. They have a sip bonus, +3 balance, they can fly, +2 forest regen. Alright, so maybe they can't kill a lot of things, but it's hella hard to kill them too.

Viscanti vs. Original Faeling.

Viscanti tries to stomp on Original Faeling, but it's too fast! Our brave faeling flies around Viscanti at the speed of lightning, poking the poor Viscanti intermittenly with rapiers about the size of chopsticks, not dealing much damage, but irritating the Viscanti to Nil and back.

After a while, the Viscanti bellows with annoyance, and sick of having his horns tweaked, stomps off, grumbling about mosquitoes.

Just to try and clear this up a little, thisis my theory on it...
This is just my example...
I came here shortly after open beta started, immediatly went faeling, and have been a faeling ever since. While others were laughing at us little faelings, I would just sit back and think "Yea.. they can laugh.. we still rock." Then we got the Balance 3, that was such a bonus for us, just made us rock that much more...
See, I'm guessing Elryn feels like that because he also has been a faeling fpr a very very long time. I mean his stance on this is quite understandable, giving he has probabaly been a faeling as long as I have, if not longer...
Just my thoughts on that part.

Except that wouldn't be done. Reasons:
1) Dracnari are obviously supposed to be the primaries of Gaudiguch.
2) What was done with fae, faelings existed in all of the communes before the taint wars, and were, as Serenwilde, most likely, in decently large numbers. They would have been there before.

What was done with Glomdoring for faelings to fit in? Faelings could be found in Gloriana. What happens? Rowena repopulates Gloriana with Dark Faelings. And there you go. A twisted version of something that would have belonged if both things weren't twisted. Both are twisted, makes a decent amount of sense.

Gloriana was once a nice, natural and beautiful Commune.
Viravain was once a sane, kind and beautiful Divine.
Faelings were cute, charismatic small creatures of nature.

Gloriana gets tainted.
Viravain gets broked.
Then, faelings get twisted.

Honestly, aside from mechanics which will still be worked on, this is what's happened. Deal with it.

The admins put a lot of time, a lot of energy, and a lot of effort to make this happpen. They listened to what people wanted, and instead of making the game have a happy ending, which means it would end, they threw in something which adds a new level of difficulty to the world and relations with others.

Just because things didn't work out in the exact way you imagined it means you still get to roleplay having to deal with the situation. To pretend by responding to something that isn't real in a manner that would be as realistic as possible.

I don't know about you Elryn, but I haven't vested this much time, interest and money just to sit down and write the entire world, it's history and future itself. There's a reason why I've sunk so much money into what would have been TSR, into White-Wolf, into DreamPod9. I enjoy playing a game with different people so things don't happen necessarily as I plan or want them to.

Regardless of Elryn's rediculous ramblings, there is as much point in comparing an unspecialized faeling with a shadowlord or shadowcaster faeling...than there is to comparing unspecialized viscanti to brood or master viscanti...NONE AT ALL.

If you want to compare, compare specialized elfen/merian/viscanti with specialized faeling, but for god's sake, forget about the bloody unspecialized faeling, they haven't got anything to do with this, they are not supposed to be compared to a specialized race, and they never will be.

Specialized races are supposed to be BETTER at all times than unspecialized races, if this is not the case, the specialized races need upgrades.

High elfen are far better than shadowcaster faeling, shadowlord faeling are better than elfen lords, seems pretty damn balanced to me.

Okay I think the point is.

Merians fit well in Celest, they belong there, All merians in celest get a specialization


Viscanti fit well in Magnagora all viscanti in Magnagora get a specialization.


Now..


Faelings.. they fit well in Seren, are incorporated into Seren, They fit as well in Seren as they do now in Glomdoring. Now

An unspecialized Viscanti is probably belonging to Seren, a place he doesn't fit as well as an unspecialized Merian would probably be of Celest.

Ialie, it doesn't matter in the least where they belong to, they are NOT supposed to be as good as a specialized race. Unspecialized faeling are already much better than various other unspecialized races, what more do you want?

Why should a faeling druid in glom be more powerfult than a faeling druid in Seren?

Even if a faeling were to leave glom and go rogue after becomming specialized they would still be all uber and stuff.

My god...if you still don't know that after the many bazilion times it has been said that specialized races should be better than unspecialized races, you're just completely unable to grasp lusternia's racial mechanics.

Its just that seren faelings have the same affinity to their archeotypes rp wise as the faelings in glomdoring do.


Now a Merian Nilhist or Geomancer couldn't claim that, Nor could a Viscanti aquamancer claim that, but a faeling its just different.

Honestly, with 10 int surge is gonna be as useful as it is to a viscanti, which isn't much. They will however have 13 con like a viscanti does. I can see how its kinda rough as they would have 11 str base, compared to viscanti 16 str base.

Int is identical to viscanti, as is con. The dex of a faeling is much higher, plus a small size and the ability to fly...

so is 5 points of STR + sip penalty even with a lvl 3 balance + a sip bonus?

They are strong no doubt about it, but I don't think they will all that much good as they are made out to be...

As far a serenwilde goes, I feel for the seren faelings who are feeling shafted over this, the obvious choice being to abandon serenwilde for glom, given that the serenwilde are a bunch of tards anyway (my opinion) plus that also means more faelings for murphy!

I'll reserve my judgement until a glomdoring faeling gets artied out, and is able to give me a solid schooling on a regular basis. Until that happens, we all know speed knights are utter crap, I dont care what elemental runes you have or how big your broads are, speed knights aren't very good at all here, so have your 11 base str hits (13 with flex but you'll have to study lowmagic as being a commune) until such a time as it becomes rediculous

Oh yeah, and while we're at it, let's have it so that in the same event Elryn was talking about where Trill get altered, Lucidians were enslaved by the Dracnari in huge numbers, and also it turns out the Matrix has some property that reacts pretty well with Dracnari.

Then, whenever one of said Dracnari or Trill or Lucidians complains, we can just say "GOD U ARE RETARTED SPECIALIZE RACES R BETTAR, U DONT GET MECHNAICS." And if they still have the GALL to complain about it? "Well it's obviously historically accurate because the lucidians were enslaved in the time field thing." Oh, and the Lucidians would get +5 INT, the -3 bludgeoning vulnerability would be wiped and turned into +3 cutting resistance, and...yeah, we'll have a few extra CON and STR points on the side.

If this were me with say, Ackleberry coming out and Furrikin being a specialised race, and me therefore sucking by comparison, I'd have no right to complain, because historically Furrikin were most abundant in Ackleberry. But it's not. It's Faelings. And they do.
