The things in Glomdoring, the forest which I live in keep attacking me when all I want to do is get to the road. Now for me it isn't so bad, I can run and scrub after a bulbous spider hits me, and I can not die to a thorn beast until I untangle, but for a newbie of the commune that could be pretty bad. Make it so us glomdoritos aren't attacked by them. Pwetty please?

No, suck it up and tough it up.

I mean, please, I was Ithaquan in Imperian, and in Ithaqua, you have massive amounts of ice wolves and werewolves that do massive damage, and group up on you, and chase you, in your freaking backyard. Little spiders hitting you for 50 damage is nothing.

When I was a newbie I had like 300 health. Thorn beasts entangle you and hit for about 150 a go. That's pretty bad for a newbie.

LUXURY!

In my day, we used to have to get up out of the shoebox at twelve o'clock at night, and lick the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel for breakfast, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.

But you try and tell the young people today that...

Glomdoring..

Forest without Mercy? Yea... let's make it merciful!

It's actually pretty easy to avoid the "trouble" areas isn't it? Just highlight some safe paths and tell the newbies not to wander. And if they think they know better... that's their problem. halo.gif

The only path to the Master Ravenwood takes you right through the middle of the spiders. There's no other way around it.
thakin2005-04-24 13:07:28
When I was young I had to walk to school barefoot in the snow, completely uphill both ways!
Lisaera2005-04-24 13:21:45
Can someone give me a list of all aggressive creatures in Glomdoring?
Thorgal2005-04-24 13:26:37
The bulbous spider in the middle of the spider's lair, the mutated mushroom below the black tower, the black widows in the trees and the thorn beasts.

And yeah, there isn't a safe path to glomdoring proper or even the ravenwood, no matter which way you take, you'll always either get attacked by the thorn beasts or the spiders.
Xenthos2005-04-24 13:50:50
Viravain already scolded the black widows in the trees... they don't grab commune members (but if you go up to visit them, they will still attack).

So, 1) The spiders area is mostly safe except the bulbous, and 2) There is a way. Swim, sheesh- lovely little river from the edge of the swamp to the tree, three rooms of swimming, no aggressive critters.
Unknown2005-04-24 13:55:35
Bah. Leave the aggressive critters. Don't make the forest merciful.
Xenthos2005-04-24 13:58:30
Yeah, I rather like them, too. They are part of the spirit of the place. *shrugs* The only REAL problem was with the black widows grabbing you into the trees- everything other than that can be easily avoided. If you don't want to meet thornbeasts, don't go to a certain (rather small) area.
Shoshana2005-04-24 14:10:03
A certain rather small area that contains the drums, and quite often shadows tongue.gif.
Summer2005-04-24 14:19:38
Yeah, like Xenthos says, you can get to the Ravenwood by swimming. No idea where the commune is though, and don't feel like making an alt / wandering around to find out.

Swimming kills off 5% of their health per room, plus the odd extra 5% if they stay in the water for a time. So they won't die unless they somehow get lost in the water / sit there for too long.
Manjanaia2005-04-24 14:29:20
The swimming shouldn't really be a problem actually, trout is pretty easy to learn in totems.
Lisaera2005-04-24 15:15:12
All creatures in Glomdoring will now not attack those under level 21. Those above, however, will just have to learn to be careful.
Manjanaia2005-04-24 15:17:29
Sounds good.

Are these animals loyal to glomdoring commune? Will I get yelled at for killin em?
Summer2005-04-24 16:59:30
If they follow tradition adopted by the other cities / commune, yeah happy.gif. Enemied too.
