Okay, then make the puncture runes cut through all damage resistance. The more resistance you have, the more puncture damage they do. The rest of the weapon would be, of course, regular damage.

Perhaps make the puncture % less significant against magical damage reduction or whatever rather than armor, though.

And maybe give warriors some extra non-deepwound skills in BM/BC so they can do stuff besides swing? I dunno.
Murphy2005-04-27 22:41:36
well isn't that what elemental runes do? 50% electrical damage is the same as what you talk about, except you can proof against lightning on your robes.
Shamarah2005-04-27 22:43:36
Read what I actually said next time you respond to something.

Murphy2005-04-27 23:03:00
so the more resistance you have, the more damage you take, which negates resistance, therefore making you do a minimum of damage to somebody, which is a very similair effect to lightning runes, except merian and mugwumps get shafted on the lightning penalty
Shamarah2005-04-27 23:07:04
No, since it'll hurt mages who have few physical resistances less, and it'll hurt warriors who have more physical resistances more.
Murphy2005-04-27 23:20:52
yes it will hurt them less, but it will bring damage to the same level where I hit a mage or a warrior, unless im not getting it in which case you need to explain it better
Shamarah2005-04-27 23:25:25
Okay, look, the problem is that warriors have trouble damaging warriors because of armor, right?

So, with my idea:

Mages get hit for a minimal amount of armor-bypassing damage
Guardians get hit for a moderate amount of armor-bypassing damage
Warriors get hit for a large amount of armor-bypassing damage

So that mages don't get totally pwned by damage and warriors can kill each other.

As long as we invest, yet another 700 credits into runes.
Narsrim2005-04-28 00:16:46
We all need to beg Estarra for the real solution: Defensive Artifacts!

We need resistance rings!

Artie Great Robes!

Artie Shields!
Murphy2005-04-28 00:32:07
you can have artie armour when I get a flopping web avoidance artifact and a stat booster

I'm meaning these as replacements for elemental runes.

Except Estarra already said no web avoidance, and stat artifacts probably won't exist (Definitely not Strength or Intelligence), though they may bring in constitution and dexterity artifact, since constitution artifacts are more of a bashing artifact.

However, artie armour and resistance rings are a possibility, since Estarra hasn't commented on those.
Murphy2005-04-28 01:22:01
I know that perfectly well old mate....I was being facetious because armour and defence arties are meant to stop warrior offence, so I'd want somethint to hinder moondancer offence too apart from a mana regen ring

Shiri2005-04-28 01:29:46
Heh. A mana regen ring would do just fine. :/ It's not like you can die to damage.
Shamarah2005-04-28 01:30:18
I can!

Shiri2005-04-28 01:34:06
...yeah, I was talking about warriors! tongue.gif
Singollo2005-04-28 03:16:05
I've heard rumours that I do around 1000 damage to a lot of people and don't have any artifacts.

However, considering you can put rebounding up before I can get two combos in, and have parry, stances and even without all those nifty things I'll still miss a lot, I don't see how this is a problem for anyone but me and other nonartied knights. We're not as overpowered as nonwarriors make us out to be. Runes on the other hand...!

He also kind of has that helm of Urlach.

Murphy asked me not to use the Grim, and he wouldn't use the champion helm, so the fights were without champion artifacts.

The puncture rune idea is utter rubbish by the way, better to just have elemental runes only convert 20%-25% of the damage, and add some sort of affliction side-effect depending on the element to even it out.

An effective 200 points of damage increase on a blade for 350 credits, doesn't seem a bad tradeoff, however a 100% damage increase for 350 credits (the way it is now), is a little hefty.

And yeah, I know I used to defend elemental runes, but after constantly being brought to 50 health from full in a single move from murphies and marsus, I'm forced to change my mind.
Murphy2005-04-28 07:21:40
yeh, with grim its bloody impossible to fight properly
Marsu2005-04-28 10:03:48
Pfft, I could easily kill Shamarah in two swings -without- my runes. I used to do it biggrin.gif

Just up Mage defences a little.
