I didn't suggest that you will get the results you want at this point, working hard doesn't always get you what you want. I just do not think that it would be fair to the players as a whole for Glomdoring to have its hand held while it grows and, honestly, I think it would be better for the people of Glomdoring to struggle and form strong ties and a little modern history to work from that is all their own, not handed to them on a Divine silver platter.

Again, you seem to have a hard time understanding what I'm saying. Maybe I'm not communicating clearly. If so, I'm sorry.
I'm not asking for them to *give* us something. There's nothing they can *give* us that we can't get on our own. I'm suggesting that they consider making some small adjustments that give us the capability to defend our commune effectively. We may not take advantage of it, but I'd at least like the option.

I think Serenwilde should lay off for a bit.
Yeah, yeah, I know it's sort of bad roleplay. And I know Visaeris and Magnagora in generaly has done the exact same to us.
But Glomdoring isn't JUST Visaeris. There are some players in there that are getting as burnt out as we Seren did when we were getting constantly pounded back in the first Magnagoran war, so we should know how it feels. Give them a break. It's not an IC thing, although I'm sure someone can devise an IC excuse for it. I'm thinking of the players here. We know what the situation feels like, so why can't we extend the same compassion then we wish WE'D been shown ages ago?
Meh. They can't defend themselves yet. (I hope they don't get Druids until demesnes are nerfed a bit.) And I know it's OOC to let them go. But really, I'd rather have a slightly wonky bit of roleplaying history than drive away the actual cool players we have in Glomdoring.
(If they attack US though, I'm not going to feel sorry for those particular individuals. You know who you are.)

Yea, ICly I love being able to waltz into Glomdoring, kill a few people and leave. OOCly it sucks, give them some more defense than 13 people web whoring and cursing

I know what you mean. When I talk about Them giving you something, I don't mean they code up some fancy things or have Viravain stand guard and zap everyone. I mean, I don't think they should reduce the cost of your guards, give you power to buy enough guards or make some totems pop out of thin air, etc.
I am saying that I don't think any changes need to be made in yours or anyone elses favour at this stage.
If it stays this way in the near future Serenwilde will likely be on the receiving end and be wanting some changes of their own. If you get changes now, it would be unfair to deny Serenwilde changes then.
Just leave it for now, keep working and stick with it for the long haul. Politics is your best bet at this point.

Giving them slack isn't ooc or bad roleplay in the least, Magnagora readily negotiated with celest when it became clear the situation was just too stressing for the players and their characters. There's nothing ooc about negotiations.
When serenwilde complained on the other hand, and Daevos wanted to give them some slack, Gregori told us to shove off and go talk to someone who cares, literally.

I think it's great roleplay. The struggling new Commune grappling for power against established organisations.

As long as you're not a member of that struggling commune, it's great fun .

i've got a solution....
Every time murphy is on, ask him to come hang out in glomdoring...he's more than happy to help out, plus it gives him a chance to kill those damn serens he hates so much...
If you back him up with a couple of webbers, the commune will be a lot safer, as it is murphy comes running as soon as someone appears on deathsight

The Serenwilde and Celestians aren't working together for the record, Bobstar.. Bobstar, is it?
A question to something someone said here. Celestians have a reason to attack Glomdoring but don't have a reason to fight Mag anymore? Aren't they both tainted orgs?

No one should GIVE them anything, Marsu. They'll have their druids soon. Perhaps if the admin hadn't felt so rushed, they'd have presented the commune with all three guilds in order. Impatient @#$@s.
Visaeris, you can make all of the excuses you want. I'm sure that there are many that can attest to the teams of novices you slaughtered. I don't kill novices. I don't really raid Glomdoring, but I go in and assist if someone calls for help. Oh, and thanks for clearing up the fact that Glomdoring and Magnagora are already aligned. There was some confusion on that.
By the way, I haven't touched ONE tree!

I'll tell you what did suck. Being beckoned away from Ravenwood while I was just standing there. Amaru .
But meh, I'm sure it'll even out soon enough.

It's not as if it's SAFE in our own commune. It IS burning the players out very quickly, especially the duird wannabes who just search for essence. The top 5 essence hunters for the nexus are druids because we can do nothing else Yea, things need to be move on, but I also entirely agree with Malicia. There was a lot of pressure from the players to get Glomdoring out for us. I'm sure there's a damn good reason we don't have Druids. I'd rather have fully working skillsets rather than receiving weak buggy ones There's a good reason we don't have them yet. I'm not so fussed, just eager!

Well we agree on the point of not just magically giving us stuff.
With regards to the Serenwilde, it wouldn't be the same. I don't have a problem with any given side being crucified as a result of events, if they have the potential to handle the situation. We're a completely new organisation, which makes it a different situation than anything that Serenwilde/Magnagora/Celest will have to face, ever.

Well, we're not grappling for power, right now we're trying to survive And I would agree it's great roleplay, I suppose (despite the fact that it's really just fighting). The problem is, it's not great fun. As I recall, you're in favour of changing things (such as power usage for defs/rules on arena deffing) to ensure that the game is fun, so it's safe to assume that you support my position, yes?

Yeah, we've been working with Magnagora pretty closely to fend off the Serenwilders, but it's sort of against *our* roleplay as we're supposed to be independent and anti-City

Again, I'm not asking for us to be given anything. Nor am I complaining that we don't have our druids. My feelings on that matter are irrelevant to the issue at hand. Even with our druids, we would still be fighting a superior force with no defences to speak of, it'd just be a bit less uneven.
Regarding your second chunk of text, I only killed novices that attacked me, with a few exceptions( Ialie ) or mistakes. My comments are about those who *do* actively raid the commune. I haven't referred to you or even considered you a part of the problem except in a supporting role.
In terms of the status between Glomdoring and Magnagora, there are no official or unofficial ties. The two entities are sovereign political bodies, and no agreements have been forged as of this post. The bulk of our (effective) defenders are Magnagorans, but Magnagora is not working for us. While I don't claim to know the internal workings of Magnagora, I don't think any edict has been handed down instructing the common Magnagoran citizens to assist. There's a number of notable names, but it's on an individual basis.

Like I said, I'm not pressing for Druids. Just something to balance the scales until we get them.
Typhus2005-04-29 17:25:26
Heh.. Or have Glomdoring get those Rangers everyone seems to be thinking about first.
Unknown2005-04-29 17:26:00
I'd like to add that I think Visaeris having or having not killed novices in the past is completely irrelevant for this topic.
Serenwilde is slaughtering the Glomdoring people and I won't be surprised if half of them quit Lusternia tomorrow.
P.S. Why do people call for help if it's them attacking? I never got that. I know I'd be more than pissed if I rushed to someone's help only to find out I just aided in a raid.
P.S. I also don't think anything like "the same happened to us" or "now they feel what it's like" matters. It's a very rotten situation OOCly, most of us agree on it, not doing anything about it because of any such reason is just stupid.

Yes well, if someone calls for help, do you stop and question them or do you respond? That's how it goes sometimes.

Our current situation is largely Viravain's fault.
Raan2005-04-29 17:39:05
Case in point, my dying to save Carth when he called for help, when he was being jumped by Glomdoring. Only to find out that he was killing glomdoron novices.... that really made me all sorts of pissed off.

Excuse me?
Since day one when the Glomdoring Commune came into existence, I've laid low and directed behind the scenes that the commune stay out of conflict, make whatever treaties are needed with Serenwilde and the cities, even withdraw from the ethereal to appease people if necessary. How, pray tell, does this make the current situation my fault?
