Weeeelp. I've decided it's about time I do this family thing. Sooo. I'm looking for someone to bloodbond. The marriage thing doesn't mingle well with Erion's character. Although that could change, I guess.
So. Anyone interested in doing it? We could do anything from a cult-family to Night, to a wiccan family in general, offering the possibility for some interesting inter-family fueding for power.
I'm more hoping to come up with a family with a PURPOUSE - you know. Not just a collection of screwballs. I was Beldaran's brother (And the father of several of her children) back on Achaea. I've had enough of over-sized screwy families (I STILL LOVE YOU BELDY!). How about a serious one this time?

Oooh ooh! MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMME!!!
But seriously, asking to start a family OOC and on the forums.. ehh, to me it just seems like that shouldn't be kosher. Family is very much an IC thing, and is the drive of many who RP in Lusternia, given that they lost such things since passing through the portal of fate.
I think it'd be better if you looked at people with whom you are close with (personally, or perhaps in personality) in the game, and try to imagine how such bonds could be realistic. At that point, I'd say go OOC and talk to the player to discuss the possibility. If they're open to it, then go ahead, else start at the beginning again.
Again, that's just my take on the thing.

Selecting a family SHOULD be OOC. I mean, how likely is it that your best friend will turn out to be your brother?
If you want your family to mean anything, you pretty much NEED to do some OOC work with it.

I didn't mean it shouldn't be OOC completely. Like I mentioned, I still think you should discuss the matter OOC with the player of the character you would like to bloodbond/marry.
But, as something that's a goal for a character, to rejoin or start a family, it should also be roleplayed. Now if Dreadful Thingermabob Jones wants to start a family, and decides, sure, with HolyLight Someonedude Alex, and they do it, purely ooc, it just doesn't work well enough.
I mean, sure, you can find families that are generally based in one city and group of somewhat like-minded persons, and then others in other places, but usually those people left their homes, or still had some manner of connection to the 'family.' At least I should hope so.
geh, edit: Also, I don't think it's very RP to suddenly make a family with someone you've only talked to once. If you're starting a family, it's something that's a risk, takes courage, might fail, and shouldn't be based more on "So I wanna start something with a goal." The latter describes more of what a Clan is, not a family is about, IMO.

Oh, I'm just using OOC to plan a family RP. I want a family that has some sort of ideology - You know, a purpose. Not just a vague "Let's procreate!" but, think family-goal. A purpose. Living lives to empower Night, or living for Nature, something. Other than that mess of a Seawind family.
Astraea2005-05-01 00:26:52
I think if I was you, Erion, I'd make my family all mysterious/cultish and like, no one knows anything about it, but the family is close-knit and not just anyone is let in, but maybe try to make it prominent people, or at least people who are well past being newbies? If you want to keep it serious.
Jalain2005-05-01 00:50:38
I'd say yes, but I'm fairly certain you don't want Jalain as your brother.
Though, it would be interesting.. the Druidic half, trying to push the Wiccan half of the family down.

See, I live for conflict. No conflict is BORING. That's why the Glomdoring is losing interest fast for me. No real internal strife. Which is cool and all, but I live off the shadowy who you can and cannot trust. I don't really know Jalain, so.
Manjanaia2005-05-01 13:43:17
I think it can be IC. Aebrin and Manja were both so clinically insane that they couldn't -not- have been brothers.

Mmph. Good luck to anyone who ends up as your cousin.

I need to change my description.. way too cutsey with the leprechaun and all that.. so, gonna send Linahn back off to Faethorn, get some chains and put them around the necks of a Sprite and Sylph, and have them pull Jalain around in a cart. I love this whole Slave Master idea. Also gotta give him black wings, and Snape like hair (Oily and slicked back)
If I had money, I would love to buy a cart pulled along by fae, so that I could have the entry and exit messages for it.. Shame I'm all poor

Rhysus! Be Erion's Cousin!
Bau2005-05-02 00:57:26
I hate you, Erion. Damn you to hell, there was nothing wrong with my family (barring the fact that one of my favourite daughters now wants my poor head removed and calls me a witch despite my being a druid!)
Erion2005-05-02 01:54:21
Right. I guess being mother to 9/10s of Sapience and your siblings being both father AND uncle to 7/10s of said continent isn't wrong.
Unknown2005-05-02 02:10:31
Cronnacht will be your cousin Erion
Erion2005-05-02 02:33:03
Do you even KNOW the cousin story?
Unknown2005-05-02 02:57:55
If it involves you I don't think I want to.
Erion2005-05-02 03:01:23
Smart lad. It involves devirginising and the word "oops!"
Unknown2005-05-02 03:02:22
This is the part where I flee in terror.
Do you think Shiribot will censor devirginising?
