Another trill post

So, I am assuming a reason for why trill's stats don't make them good for anything is that it was assumed all the fluffy types would choose trill just like they chose atavian in the other muds, because flying is cool and it's fun roleplay for them.

However, this hasn't happened, I have seen maybe 1 other trill in my time playing. Lusternia's general rp environment is strong enough that RPers and PvPers alike both choose the race with the stat bonus most of the time.

So if I'm correct about that rational for why trill's stats are as they are and how it hasn't worked out that way, would that not be grounds to give them some kind of small upgrade? Maybe remove the exp penalty, another point of dexterity or intelligence, heck anything tongue.gif

*thump* Wait for Hallifax! We said this before! It's Furrikin that should be worried about!
Unknown2005-05-16 05:01:33
Dog, Hallifax is like 9 months away at least. They probably don't even have the stat bonus for trill planned out yet, though it'd have to be a massive bonus at this point tongue.gif
Shiri2005-05-16 05:03:47
Well stop complaining in the meantime! tongue.gif

Yeah, I know what you mean, I feel your pain. :/

Unspecialized Trill are like all the other unspecialized races. Fairly substandard. (Although when charisma is improved, this hopefully won't be true for Faelings!)

I'm sure that will change for Trill when Hallifax comes out, as Shiri said.

Until then, rather than potentially unbalancing the race a better idea might be to create some external environment in which the race excels over all other races. How about thinking of a possible new area in which the bashing mobiles all fly? That way Trill as they are now would be able to make use of their advantage, which I understand they really can't at the moment.

I hesitantly agree that there are more needy races to be looked at before city/commune specific races. Furrikin (because Tae'dae might specialize in Ackleberry), Krokani, and Orclach are some that I can see might need help.

Oh, and the original faelings too, of course. halo.gif

No, that's one of the things that peeves me. There are quite a few races that are just fine unspecialized. Even an unspecialized merian beats the hell out of trill. Dracnari certainly aren't having a problem for example.

Overall, unspecialized trill should be as good as unspecialized dracnari since both have yet to get their specializations etc.
Elryn2005-05-16 05:20:40
Maybe Dracnari are about the 2nd best combat race because Gaudigach isn't planned for release, and hence they aren't expected to ever get a specialization?

Veradin Kalas Aesyra, the Golden Priestess (Female Dracnari Demigod).

That's unspecialized. A trill could never pull that off, Jelaludin dies to the eels in the sewers of Magnagora, and has to shield against one goat, even when he was an ur'guard who are supposedly the best bashers.
Unknown2005-05-16 05:21:35
So wait, Hallifax is planned for release, but Gaudiguch isn't? blink.gif
Elryn2005-05-16 05:25:23
Meh, I'm just trying to find an answer that fits. wink.gif

And if you're going to compare unspecialized trill bashing to unspecialized dracnari bashing... just compare yourself to unspecialized faeling bashing. That should make you feel better. happy.gif

Faelings have the option and you aren't taking it, trill don't have such an option.
Daganev2005-05-16 05:32:23
The question arises... why did you ever bother with a trill in the first place?
Unknown2005-05-16 05:33:42
Because trill are awesome blush.gif
Daganev2005-05-16 05:34:18
apparently not, your complaing about them tongue.gif
Unknown2005-05-16 05:36:13
They are awesome at everything but combat, bashing and influencing then spoton.gif

You have the option of becoming Dracnari, which is almost comparable.

Stupid antithetical specialization. swear2.gif

Although I do agree that Trill in their unspecialized form are pretty dodge. That's why I was trying to come up with interim measures to make them useful.

Edit: Oh, and I'm all for removing all experience penalties/advantages. Its an awful way of balancing.
Unknown2005-05-16 11:00:14
Trill aren't gunna specialize. Its going to be lucidian. I can find the evidence in the histories if you want, but im fairly sure its gunna be lucidian.
Unknown2005-05-16 14:32:24
Lucidian and Dracnari will be the final two.
